"I remember that happening, and being appalled – tho’ I wouldn’t have used that word, as I was a small child – that small child saw more clearly than the grown-ups. It also made me think less of grown-ups. That opinion hasn’t changed much.
As someone else commented – an arrow to the heart – not just in relation to Ham-The-Monkey - but to all those other little monkeys who are trying so hard to please. Unfortunately, while trying to please they can do great damage. I’ll stop now - you know where this is going.
