After the 2023 bonfire event a small group of concerned locals set up Team Swan and set up this petition. It garnered over 2000 people supporting their call to move the bonfire event. The petition is still live so help them by giving them your support so they can continue to challenge the organisers after another disturbing event"

He’s referring to last Saturday night’s fireworks at the Peedie Sea in Kirkwall – usually a safe refuge for many wild birds and other wildlife…..

I’ll mention that we had a lot of voles in our meadow – then the stoats arrived, and the voles disappeared – seriously, just disappeared.

We used to  have  a Short-eared Owl and a pair of Hen Harriers patrolling our meadow, looking for voles - they also stopped visiting.

Orkney Native Wildlife Project started trapping and year before last the voles started to re-appear, as did the Harriers,  plus a Sparow-hawk. Simple as that.
