And now we have…..
Earthbound Orkney: Online Talk
“Artist/Builder Becky Little and Architect Tom Morton have been studying the beautiful vibrant soils of Orkney for the last 2 years, working with the local heritage and arts community to understand and celebrate how earth has been used in buildings for 5,000 years, and how it offers a gateway to our future.
This online talk will present the project exhibition, seen by 10,000 people this summer on Orkney and soon to move to the V&A Dundee, and talk about the cultural heritage and artistic practice described in the video and book.
This is the final event in the Earthbound Orkney project, which has also included some great cross-sector training workshops in Orkney and a public lecture at the Orkney International Science Festival. EBUKI is grateful for the support of Historic Environment Scotland, National Lottery heritage Fund, Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and University of Highlands & Islands.
The talk will last approximately an hour, followed by a Q&A discussion.”

From ‘Emergence’ Magazine….
“we came from the cellular division,
its math already figured
many thousands of years”
Opening our exploration of the theme of time, this new poem by Chickasaw poet Linda Hogan from our latest print edition recognizes time as circular: the end, apparent in the beginning; each moment connected to all others. In the infinite cycle of time, we encounter our own oneness with Earth, she seems to say—we are the fragrance of soil; the vision of night; the silk cocoon, the butterfly, and the sweep of flight. Evoking the forced dislocation of her ancestors from their homelands, Linda sees that when we are removed from place, it is time that safekeeps the sacred within lifeways.
