The most significant exploration of El Anatsui’s practice ever staged in the UK, Scottish Mission Book Depot Keta is now open at Talbot Rice Gallery. The exhibition spans five decades of work and extends to the building’s façade, turning the University’s Old College into an open-air gallery this summer.

This summer we are proud to present a keynote lecture ‘El Anatsui, Postcolonial Modernism and the Nsukka School’ by Professor Chika Okeke-Agulu, preceded by a private view and followed by a drinks reception.
Professor Chika Okeke-Agulu specialises in indigenous, modern, and contemporary African and African Diaspora art history and theory and co-curated the major survey exhibition El Anatsui: Triumphant Scale, Haus der Kunst, Munich (2019) with Okwui Enwezor (1963 – 2019), which travelled to Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha, 2019; and Kunstmuseum Bern, 2020.
