Well, Well, Well…....’Wild Service’….. BBC Pics of Scotland….From C.A.A.T......

Well, Well, Well…

I was going to rant about the comparison between these two situations – then realised that I don’t need to – I only need to present them to the reader….

First  - people who peacefully planned a peaceful protest - note planned – hadn’t done so  - are given long jail sentences…

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/jul/18/five-just-stop-oil-supporters-jailed-over-protest-that-blocked-m25

No rant – just one word  - Fascism.

Second – people who were negligent in carrying out their responsibilities, resulting in the death and disablement of thousands of people – get off scott- free….

The Contradiction

Have you heard about

The Contradiction?

Boris states that no laws were broken

The Met. hands out fines

To law-breakers.

These two ‘facts’

Shouldn’t co-exist

But they do

That’s British Society today

Contradiction.

’Wild Service’…..

In ‘Wild Service’, the last essay before the Epilogue is entitled… ’Bothy’ and tells of how Bothies - simple, free accommodation in out of the way places - were first established and of the basic principles of openness and sharing which they represent.  This reminded me of when we stopped by a Bothy and found a book which someone had left there for all to read and share…

Bothies are A GOOD THING – not just because they are practical and useful - but because they encourage a good-natured approach to life.

In the Epilogue, Jon Moses writes of the significance of coming across a footprint.  I’ve previously mentioned this – see section entitled ‘A Footprint’…

One word – Freedom.

From C.A.A.T.

"Please take urgent action before Monday 22nd July and call on your MP to add their name to Amendment C to the King's Speech. The Amendment calls on the new Government to immediately suspend export licences for arms transfers to Israel, and to drop the challenge to the International Criminal Court’s jurisdiction in Gaza.

Your MP has until end of day Monday 22nd July to add their name.

You can read more about the Amendment in Zarah Sultana MP's op-ed: I call on Keir Starmer to suspend arms sales to Israel and end Britain’s complicity in the killing | Zarah Sultana | The Guardian

Every government that continues to arm Israel is complicit in Israel's genocide against Palestinians. Our Labour government must do everything in their power to end arms exports to Israel, uphold international law, and Free Palestine.

In solidarity,

Katie

Advocacy Manager, Campaign Against Arms Trade
