Simon’s Summer Holiday….

Simon’s holiday blog is being dead interesting - here’s the next instalment…

https://swaldman.dreamwidth.org/518309.html

Simon tells of ‘Operation Gomorrah’ – a particularly un-feeling choice of name for a bombing raid -  “targeted deliberately at civilian housing areas”.  What were they thinking of?

And I’m thinking of the present situation in what used to be referred to a ‘The Holy Land’.

His description of the ’War Memorial’ and the way in which it commemorates the bombing  reminded me of Mike’s visit to the Peace Park in Nagasaki…

…which Simon also references.

The fact that some of the original church still stands brought to mind Coventry Cathedral …

Simon then describes doing more generally ‘touristy’ things – impulsively hopping onto ferries and eating yummy meals – sounds like a good holiday to me!
