A Touchy Subject….

I saw this on someone’s Facebook page…..

Here are my responses….

This encapsulates the situation very clearly.

It’s something that bugs me – a lot is said about ‘mental health issues’ and noticing how folk around you are being and if you notice changes, to reach out to the person who is hurting - which is absolutely correct.

I’ve been there - and part of the depression was caused by feeling/believing that no-one cared.  What I found was that, mostly, people don’t want to know.  They have their own lives to live – are too busy.

Words from a poem by John Clare often came to  mind…

“Even the dearest that I loved the best

Are strange—nay, rather, stranger than the rest.’

When I was coming out of it, I wrote about it…

I’m still partly swimming in that stream, but am a whole lot better at keeping my head above water. Letting go of past, and present, hurt is helping a lot.

Each morning, I look myself in the eye in the mirror and tell myself…….

“I am letting go of all hurt and fear and consciously replacing them with faith and love. Faith in myself and in life - enabling a clearer way of being to unfold and evolve in my mind and in my life.

My past is part of me but can no longer dominate or dictate to me, where I am now.

Where I am now is…

I am healing, clearing, letting go, moving on, learning.”

I'll add that it’s my belief that if a person does choose to take their own life - that is their choice and should be respected as such.

'Committing suicide' makes it sound like a crime - it isn’t – it’s a choice.

People lower their voices when speaking of it – why do they do that? - it’s another part of being human, deserving of understanding as any other part of …being human.

I wrote this for someone...

“He’s broken the pattern.

He’s free.

His friends hurt

That he died alone.

But it was the only way he could do it.

His choice.”

I thought I didn’t have a Blog offering for today – then ….
