‘Poet Trees’……Found Sounds…… Excerpts From Orkney.com…..

Poet Trees…..
Some poets take the reader by the hand
and guide them through the forest.
Some poets blaze a well-marked trail
but leave the reader to walk alone.
Some poets climb the high branches
and throw acorns at their readers.
And some poets hide among the ancient
trunks, like Bigfoot, barely glimpsed
between the words.

Found Sounds…
As Mike stumps about on his crutches on the hard floors in our house – they make a certain sound – a click and a thud.
As he trundles about on the hard floors in his office chair – (a brain-wave which helps him to move about a lot) that makes another sound - clackety clackety clackety…
When he goes outside in the wind, the holes in the stems of his crutches make a sound – kind-of notes. I wrote about it…
Mike’s Wind Flute
Mike’s on metal crutches
Which have holes
In them
When he ventured out
The holes caught the wind
And played him a tune.

I was wondering, if he could record these sounds and give them to a music person, would they be able to make some kind of avant-garde ‘music’ out of them?
(Thanks for the title, Eamonn!)

“Join the Creative Orkney Trail in 2024
With summer on the horizon, Orkney’s creative community is ready for another busy season of welcoming visitors to their workshops, galleries, and studios. The Creative Orkney Trail is open once again, offering folk the chance to see our makers at work, crafting jewellery, pottery, textiles, artwork and much more. With 25 stops available across six islands, there is so much to see and so many people to meet. We’ve been out and about to speak to some of the makers who are opening their doors to guests from around the world over the coming months.

Orkney wildlife photographer, Raymond Besant, has been focusing on one of his favourite spring visitors to the islands this month."
