We Are Part Of Nature….
I’ve previously mentioned ‘Wild Service’ - edited by Nick Hayes & Jon Moses….

We ordered a copy – it arrived – looks good…….
Here’s an excerpt from the blurb on the back…
“ In May 2022,the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences released a paper that measured fourteen European countries on three factors: biodiversity, wellbeing and nature connectedness. Britain came last in every single category. The findings are clear. We are suffering, and nature is too.
Enter ‘Wild Service’ – a visionary concept crafted by the pioneers of the Right to Roam campaign, which argues that humanity’s loss and nature’s need are two sides of the same story. Blending science, nature writing and indigenous philosophy, this groundbreaking book calls for mass reconnection to the land and a commitment to its restoration.”
It also has most excellent illustrations by Nick Hayes and the text is set in a clear Fournier typeface for those of us with dodgy eye-sight.
I’m keen to start reading it when I’ve finished ‘Travels with Charley’ by John Steinbeck – which is also about re-connecting with the world around us.
Connecting…matters.

An interactive documentary by Studio Airport
“If bees vanish from Earth, humanity will follow in four years’ time.” —Franc Petrovčič
If an ecosystem is a tapestry, constantly being woven, then pollinators are the weavers: sowing pollen from one plant to another, making it possible for them to flower and bear their fruits. With spring in the Northern Hemisphere in full swing, it’s time to celebrate the tiny creatures that enable the season’s eruption into bloom.
This five-part Emergence Magazine production, created by Studio Airport, brings you on a journey across the landscapes of Slovenia where beekeeping has deep, traditional roots and pollinators are held at the heart of daily life. Recognized as an honoree for Best Individual Editorial Feature in this year’s Webby Awards, this interactive documentary gathers a dynamic cast—a forager who shares his bed with bees, small-scale regenerative family farmers, two urban beekeepers, and a chef who runs a bee-driven farmstay—all of whom are finding new ways to nurture pollinators in this time of ecological degradation, and forming human-pollinator partnerships that hum with possibility and life."
