The Howe of Hoxa……Still Saying ‘No’ To Rwanda….

The Howe of Hoxa……

The arial views show that there could have been other structures on the ridge leading from the Broch.  Brochs often had/have villages associated with them – it’ll be interesting to see if there is further investigation – even excavation?  I’m thinking of the village around the Broch of Gurness,…

And what is now being un-earthed around The Cairns in South Ronaldsay…

NB…The dates for this year’s dig at The Cairns are….  Monday, June 10 – Friday, July 5, 2024.  Open day: June 28, 2024.

We’ve not exactly been to the Howe of Hoxa – but near enough….

Still Saying ‘No’ To Rwanda….

From ‘Freedom From Torture’….

“We are disappointed - but not surprised. The government has just passed their 'Safety of Rwanda' Bill.

The Bill declares Rwanda a safe country to send asylum seekers. And, with AirTanker reportedly being in talks with the Government to fly refugees to Rwanda, survivors of torture could be put on a flight within the next 3 months.

Thank you for emailing AirTanker and telling them to rule themselves out of this cruel plan. With your help, we are going to do whatever it takes to stop it.

But, we can only do this with your continued support. Our powerful campaigns are funded by people like you giving what they can.

Can you chip in so we can continue fighting this cruel plan?

I'LL CHIP IN

Nobody seeking safety should be sent to Rwanda. The survivors of torture we see in our therapy rooms have expressed their fear and worry at the thought of this cruel scheme. This law will not protect those who have survived the unimaginable. Instead, it will punish and retraumatise them.

But cruelty is not inevitable. Last time the government tried to push their cruel scheme, we came together and stopped them. Lawyers got refuges off the first flight, airlines opted out of the scheme and you made that possible.

We will stand against this plan. We will try to stop airlines from taking part in this scheme. We will show the government that, in our thousands, people up and down this country stand against this cash-for-humans scheme.

Please consider donating today so that we can do everything to stop this plan and fight for a fair asylum system.

The fight isn't over. Let's stand together and stop the flights.

I'LL CHIP IN

Remember: no flights have taken off yet. It's up to all of us to keep fighting for the kinder and fairer UK that we know is possible.

In solidarity,

Agustina Oliveri
