69…….Neandertals In The Bathroom?......From Kilmorack Gallery…

69…

I’m 69 years old today.  I’m not sure what I make of Numerology…..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerology

I do believe 3 to be a meaning-full number – observation leads me think that, as it turns up in many aspects of life - particularly in nature.

Years ago -  a numerology reading showed that my significant number is 9 – 3 X 3’s = 9.

I was thinking – for my 69th birthday – are there any 3’s, 6’s or 9’s that I’d like to receive or to happen?  I don’t want 69 thousand pounds, or 3 diamonds - just …a reasonable state of health.

All I ask for at the present time is for me & Mike to have reasonable health – his leg to heal, which would help to heal my mind.  So, no I don’t ask for multiples of 3 to shower on me for my birthday.

Then I realised that, if I look out the window and see 3 Hares in the garden, or 6 Goldfinches, I’ll be pleased.  We probably regularly have 69 Starlings – they descend on the meadow and poke holes everywhere.

On the subject of 3 being a magic number…

What I wonder is …where exactly did the tiles come from?

Beth Robertson Fiddes solo | Lotte Glob | Peter White & Allison Weightman

Good news for those mesmerised by the power of the sea and lovers of light. Our next big exhibition is by BETH ROBERTSON FIDDES, and it takes inspiration from visits to the Isle of Lewis as well as the rocky edges of the northwest where she lives and works. This is nature and paint at their most dramatic. The exhibition previews on Saturday 27th April and runs until 25th May.

We also have work by LOTTE GLOB, in an exhibition World on Fire. This includes Glob's ceramic paintings, inspired by that beautiful, life-giving and dangerous element.

Thirdly, just arrived in the gallery, are a small number of new works by PETER WHITE and new pots by ALLISON WEIGHTMAN.

BETH ROBERTSON FIDDES | Water and Light

27th April - 25th May

Paintings in this exhibition are inspired by the northwest coast around BETH ROBERTSON FIDDES' studio, and from journeys to the Isle of Lewis. There were moments on these adventures, Robertson Fiddes tells me, that the sea performed like it was doing it just for her. It had its own story to tell - of wave and sun, light and water, time and movement - a tale and a performance that is universal, but somehow, in Robertson Fiddes' paintings is always northern, always a little dangerous, and always recognisably alive.

LOTTE GLOB | World on Fire

15th April - 18th May

Fire has always fascinated LOTTE GLOB. It has transformational powers and a hot danger that draws us towards it. Without fire and the sun, there would be no life.

This is a small exhibition of some of Lotte Glob's latest ceramic paintings that show the beauty and power of a burning world. We also have three lava bombs.
