A Sunny Easter Sunday…...

A Sunny Easter Sunday….

On the way to Evie Sands (aka Aikerness Beach) we came across evidence of an Easter Egg hunt….

Note the Tingwall Ting in the background….

We walked along the beach to where the river blocked our way, with ripples gleaming in the sunshine….

Then to Fern Valley Wildlife Centre for lunch…..

Fern Valley Tearoom is one of the few places where I’m prepared to eat egg mayonnaise sandwiches as egg mayonnaise can be very variable – poor quality eggs means poor quality egg mayonnaise.  Poor quality eggs usually means poor quality care of the chickens laying them – so – I don’t chance it.

I had mine with spring onion added, and remembered Sr. Michael in ‘Derry Girls’ saying of an egg & onion sandwich that…”The smell of it would turn an Orange March.”  I thoroughly enjoyed mine, with a nice cuppa tea….

...whilst watching and being watched by the resident Lemurs….

After lunch we investigated the very imaginatively put together wildlife area, just up the track from the Wildlife Centre.

We were greeted by a Log Pig…..

..messed about in the play area….

Then ducked under a willow arch…

To enter Fairyland…

…which led to a maze…

…and a tunnel for Fairies – or Peedie folk…

This whole area has been well thought-out, and when the trees which have been planted further up the field get bigger that area, too,  will provide more interest and scope for adventures.

We only meant to nip to Evie Sands for an airing – but the day unfolded before us.
