Updates From The RSPB….
“A huge win for birds of prey!
Big news – the Scottish Parliament has taken a big step towards improving the protection of birds of prey with the passage of the Wildlife Management Bill earlier this month.
Many of you have played a key role in getting this Bill over the line. You’ve been in touch with your MSPs about raptor persecution not just in recent months but over many years – thank you. At long last, we’ll now see a system brought in to licence all grouse shooting, meaning there’ll be a substantial deterrent to stop bird of prey killings on grouse moors.
Sometimes campaigning for nature can feel like a slog. But this again shows that when we speak up together and don’t give up, we can bring about real change – in this case, a huge win for our iconic birds of prey. We’ll be watching the implementation with interest.
Why Berwick Bank proposals would be a disaster for seabirds
Plans for an offshore wind farm off the East Lothian and Fife coast would be a huge blow to our already struggling seabirds. We’ve joined together with other charities to call on Ministers to reject the Berwick Bank plans. Watch our video to find out why.
Let’s keep the spotlight on Coul Links
Right now, planning reporters are reviewing the proposal for a golf course on this protected nature site. We need to keep minds focused on saving this special place. To help, we’ve put together the key points to raise with MSPs and the media.
Taking the nature friendly farming message to Holyrood
We were part of a team who took the Farm for Scotland’s Future campaign to the Scottish Parliament earlier this month, to show why supporting and funding more nature-friendly farming is vital.
