Ways of Seeing…..Mix Bitumen With Ochre…..Mix Waste With Water…

Ways of Seeing….

By chance, I was diverted from reading ‘Tarka the Otter’ to reading  ‘The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius’ (translated by George Long) which, though a copy has sat on our book-shelf for decades, neither of us has looked at.

I’m finding his observations to be helpful with what I’m working with in myself just now.  But - given his way of being and seeing – I don’t understand why he persecuted the early Christians – though there is some difference of opinion as to whether he did or not, and how much he did, if he did.

Reading his views on how to approach life, I would have thought that he’d have let them go their own way.  This bothers me  - that someone whose words are often so kindly in intent, is said to have persecuted people for their kindly beliefs.

I came upon the ‘Meditations…’  because I was looking along the shelves for books to donate to a library which the folk at Heksmoar intend to open in April…..

I’m strongly in favour of libraries as they are a way in which people can freely access ideas and information to, hopefully, help to open their minds.

Dropping of the books will give us a chance to snoop at the shop.  Tho’ not ‘Pagan’ and not finding some of the Pagan  ‘accessories’ at all appealing, I do like some of the art-work associated with that way of seeing/being.
