Voleen!.....From 'Free Tibet.....From 'Unbound'....
Voleen!.....
Colin….. https://www.colin4gardening.co.uk/ has made a start on strimming our meadow for us. He’d cut some and raked some up, then the rain came on and he went home, telling us that he’d avoided a vole and two frogs.
We were looking out the window at his handiwork and saw…..an Orkney Vole scootling about in the cut grass, pausing when it found things to eat……..
And I was singing ‘Voleen, Voleen, Voleen, Voleeeeeen….’

From ‘Free Tibet’….
“On World Children's Day, we asked parents in the Tibetan community to write what they felt about China's colonial boarding schools.
Their moving words reflected the truth of all parents—the unyielding love and desire to protect their children from all threats, including the very real dangers of Tibetan children losing their identity.
This is what they had to say
Over 900,000 Tibetan children have been separated from their families. Tibetan-language schools across Tibet have been torn down. Teachers are also being arrested and imprisoned.
In these residential boarding schools, children are cut off from their homes, their families, their language and their way of life. They are taught to reject their heritage, elders and even their own parents, and to be ashamed of their cultural background.
Tibetan children are being deliberately targeted by the boarding school system. The Chinese government's own figures show that for all students in China, only 14% of rural school children are in boarding schools, compared to 80% in the so-called 'Tibet Autonomous Region'.
This is discrimination and nothing less than an attempt to wipe out the identity of an entire country. Only decisive action will halt this cruel, colonial boarding school system. The future generations of Tibet are at stake.
Thank you.

"TALES ACCURSED: A FOLK HORROR ANTHOLOGY
Richard Wells
'An absolute treasure trove for fans of the genre'
Tom Templar, Astral Noise on Damnable Tales
What is it about these stories of the uncanny, many of them written over a century ago, that make them so appealing to contemporary readers? Novelist Benjamin Myers offers a clue: ‘They take place in worlds we recognise as once-removed from our realities. These are the settings of our ancestors, and therefore are still carried somewhere deep within us now: places where the crepuscular light is eternally fading and in which the inanimate or the dormant is slowly stirring.’ Prepare, if you dare, to encounter Richard Wells' new collection, full of the old fears.
