…for one reason or another - for better or worse....

’Maps to the Haunted’…..
I grew up surrounded by ghosts
in a state whose name means great river
in the dead language of the Seneca.
Specters and spirits all over the map,
like Chillicothe on the banks of the Scioto
where framed by molded plastic rocks
as a white child, I watched an outdoor drama
about the great Shawnee leader Tecumseh,
performed by actors in red-face,
but at least he was the hero.

Doesn’t mean we’re DEAD you know;
We’re still part of LIFE.
You’re the shadow,
We’re the substance.
Spirit isn’t in the body,
The body moves in spirit.
Ghosts, indeed!
