I’ve Been Thinking…. From Kilmorack Gallery…… A Prime Candidate For Boycotting…

I’ve Been Thinking….

Next year’s dig at the Ness of Brodgar will be hectic to say the least.  The archaeologists will want/need to get on with what will be the last excavation before the site is covered over until ???.  While I should imagine that the Media will be very keen to cram in as many telly programmes, magazine and newspaper articles etc. as possible before one of the world’s greatest archaeological finds – disappears.  And a good thing too – the Media interest – as it might, hopefully, bring in donations to help with post-excavation work which is just about as vital as the actual excavation.

While on the subject of Media coverage of the Ness dig…

It’s been a tremendous opportunity for all those who have worked on or visited this dig  - comparable with those who un-earthed Pompeii.  Pompeii gave an unprecedented insight into life in what’s referred to as the ‘Roman’ era – as the Ness has given unprecedented insights into life in the Neolithic in Europe.

The People of the Ness will already be planning for that final dig.

I’ll take this opportune moment to post a link to the Ness shop….

It’s October…….it’ll be Christmas before we know it and every penny helps...

From Kilmorack Gallery……

“The Scottish Colourists delighted in paint and how it could capture light and colour. Ann Oram's work follows in this tradition, keeping this painterly excitement alive. We are very pleased to exhibit six of her most recent landscapes from Iona and the West Coast.

We also have new work from Jane MacNeill. Her paintings capture the strength and quiet of mountains like no other artist, and these are some of my favourite works yet. The closeness of hue and fine transitions between colours makes you look closer, pulling you in to silent secrets of the Cairngorms and Monadhliaths. These are great paintings.

We also have a new 3d walkthrough. It's better to visit in person, but sometimes this will have to do.

A Prime Candidate For Boycotting…

It’s un-believable that the most recent advert for ‘Dominoes’ Pizza is being beamed out to the world in these uncertain times.

The tag line is ‘Tearing loved ones apart since 1985’…..

In my view, the Ad. people have more of a grasp of the human psyche than anyone – and they use that knowledge for no purpose other than to make money.

The world today.

Meanwhile – I sing to myself the words of Robert Plant…

Shine It All Around

This is the land where I live
Paint it all over golden
Take a little sunshine
Spread it all around

This is the love that I give
These are the arms for the holding
Turn on your love light
Shine it all around

Turn on your love light
Shine it all around

Oh, shine it all around
Oh, shine it all around

These are the times of my life
Bright, strong and golden
This is the way that I choose
When the deal goes down

This is the world that I love
Painted all over troubled
Take a little sunshine
Shine it all around

Send a little sign now
Spread it all around now
Shine it all around now
When the deal goes down now

Oh, shine it all around

This is the heart of the man
This is the heart of the matter
Break a little bread now
Spread it all around
Come on, make a little bread now
All around

Oh, shine it all around
Oh, shine it all around

Oh, shine it all around
Oh, shine it all around

Send a little sign now
Spread it all around now
Shine it all around now
When the deal goes down now

Send a little sign now
Spread it all around now
Shine it all around now
When the deal goes down now

Send a little sign now
Spread it all around now
Shine it all around now
When the deal goes down now

That’s in between my visits to the Slough of Despond!

A well-wisher advised me to keep the light in clear view as I free myself from the Slough – which I am doing - and will continue to do.
