Jeanne’s Paintings….
I received the following from Jeanne……
So, here’s a blatant plug for m’chum’s art-work….
“NOW Purchase OVER THE EDGE Originals
Online Sales for a limited time only!
The archaeology at the Ness ends August 2024 and so will my plein aire painting on the site. Consider purchasing now before it is all sold into private collections and like the site itself, they all disappear from view.
My exhibition held in at the Northlight Gallery 29 July-9 August 2023, in Stromness, Orkney was a huge success. Luckily, there are still some original oil paintings left. Additionally, I have "excavated" a number of works on paper that are now also available to purchase. Most of my work is small and can easily be fitted onto any collector's wall.
Stretched Canvas and Canvas Panels
Using oil paints out in the field means better durability when the rain passes through. With the normal wind at the Ness, I use no easel, so my canvas size is small and I tightly hold on to it. This means that the majority of my Ness paintings can be added onto a crowded wall or even stand on a shelf. They are an active art collectors delight!
Paintings on Paper
Watercolour and Mixed Media
Sometimes, I work in small sketchbooks with oil pastels. I also use the earth around me that the archaeologists are digging up and mix it with oil or watercolours. I have a number of varying sized works on paper using purely watercolours and many with mixed media. Many paintings are mounted and ready for framing.
‘Over The Edge’
I have been a volunteer at the Ness since 2011 and assisted with all sorts of archaeological and fundraising during the summer dig seasons. I got to put my professional artist skills into the Ness when I was invited to be one of the artists in residence in 2018. The exhibition in Northlight exhibited works from 2018 - 2022. I am grateful to be able to live and work in Orkney under the same sky, standing on the same earth as people present and past who have built the standing stones I do so love to paint. With deep gratitude, I am donating some of the proceeds from all sales to both the Ness of Brodgar Trust and Peedie Retreats, a grassroots charity on Orkney. Please consider making a purchase! Thank you.

THE DECADE IN TORY by Russell Jones
The Sunday Times bestselling The Decade in Tory is an inglorious, rollicking and entirely true account of ten years of Conservative rule featuring demonstrable lies, relentless incompetence, serial corruption, abuse of power, dereliction of duty and hundreds of thousands of avoidable deaths.
If you didn't get your hands on the weighty hardback, you can pre-order the paperback, out next week.
FOUR CHANCELLORS AND A FUNERAL by Russell Jones
The sequel nobody wants. After a decade of the Tories, could it get any worse? Spoiler - it does.
More of Russell Jones’s signature scathing wit, combining a detailed historical record of 2021 and 2022, with acerbic commentary, all of it leavened by jokes at the seemingly endless maelstrom of failures and hypocrisies.

The front of each card features one of Jackie Morris’s paintings from the book The Unwinding; on the back, there is short quote, spell or poem from the book plus space for you to write, draw or paint messages which you can send to spread peace and beauty to the people you love and care about.
