From Kilmorack Gallery…...The Cairns….. Swandro Dig Diary….A Thought….

by Bernie Bell - 08:32 on 12 July 2023

From Kilmorack Gallery…..

“This week has seen the arrival of new powerful paintings by Peter White, including the boat above. We also have four more of Ian Westacott's tree etchings which are awaiting framing. Amongst these are three versions of his Beauly Elm, an old tree he managed to etch before it finally came down this year.

We have also been photographing work for Helen Denerley's up-and-coming exhibition 'Salvage' and below is an image of the artist and her male orangutan. This will be an incredible exhibition. More to follow.

Tony”

I have trouble copying over images from this site to my blog – so, best if you go to the Gallery website….

I particularly like the Orangutan….

Swandro Dig Diary….

As Caz says….THE BIG REVEAL!!!https://www.swandro.co.uk/post/the-covers-are-off-and-we-have-a-new-dig-dog

Re. Daisy-The-Dog.   When I was 11 years old, we were visiting family in Ireland and one of my Dad’s friends said he had a collie dog who was ”useless”.   There she was – shut in a shed - not given much chance to show her worth.  Dad said  “She’ll be just right for Bernie” – and brought her home.

I gave her a bath – she was mingin’! - put a lead on her, took her out for a walk, and from that day to the end of her days she would do anything for me or Dad. On one occasion, under Dad’s instruction, she divided up some sheep, two goats and a donkey in the same field and lined them up by the gate.

It all depends who works with them, and how they work with them.  She was called Fly – and was one of the loves of my life.

Nothing to do with archaeology – but to do with people – and archaeology …is…people!

Back to the dig….

There’s mention of a similarity to a hearth found at Mine Howe, Tankerness.  Here are my Mine Howe musings…

A Thought….

Something occurred to me – I wonder how many Healers – Establishment and Non-establishment – are considering what the time of Covid has left in people?

I realised that I had got into a way of being which isn’t natural to me, and I now need to un-learn learnt behaviour and ‘come to life’ again.  It’s only since life has eased up that I’ve realised that I’ve spent a few years in a state of unnatural fear and tension. Then Mike’s health scare set off an added fear-full reaction.

I did realise what my situation was – and sought help in various ways.  Going to Sam for Healing  on Tuesday…..

……. has helped a lot, and is still working in and with me.

I signed up to receive messages from Matthew Manning….

…..and they often hit the nail on the head.  Here’s last Sunday’s…

"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can."

I wonder how many folk are carrying residues around with them but not realising, and how that might affect their lives?  Doctors don’t have time to take notice these days.

Mike and I will work on and with ourselves, each other and our helpers, while appreciating the life around us.

Last Saturday evening as it was so warm we had all the windows open and heard a beautiful bird song - looked out the window to see a Goldfinch sitting on the telephone wires, singing its little heart out.  Are you familiar with the Goldfinches song?  It's uplifting.

Also, as the windows were open we could smell the honeysuckle which grows near the front of the house - in the house - that was lovely.

The year is moving on - there are clusters of little green 'keys' on the sycamore trees in the garden.

LIFE continues.
