Thoughts As The Year Tips Over…..

Living with The Limbic…..

Last week’s Orkney heat-wave felt like a weight on me – and Mike felt that way too.  He’s Scots descent, I’m Irish and hot weather doesn’t agree with us – we simply don’t function. Then, I wondered is it more than just the actual heat which was having the ‘weighty’ effect on us?

The hot weather was the result of high pressure, and  Mike and I were discussing how humans are animals, and are still attuned to high and low pressure whether we are aware of it or not.  Not directly to do with Circadian Rhythms – but something akin.  Here’s my musings on Circadian Rhythms….

And there’s this …

We were very relieved when the weather ’broke’ briefly on Monday and the day was rainy and fresh.

Mike’s recent health scare had thrown me into a bad state of mind – fear-full and ill at ease.

Seeking help and Healing, I booked an appointment for a session of Reiki Healing….  https://www.facebook.com/samanthagrayreiki/

I’ve also signed up to this…

I met Matthew some years ago and believe him to be a force for good in the world.  I feel that having a link to him will be A GOOD THING.

I also opened my heart and mind and asked for help - received extra-ordinary Healing help and feel that I’m lifting out of the negative fog.

I was given a litany of words with which to replace the negative words/thoughts – some of those words being….

Light - Love -  LIFE -  Balance -  Ease - Connect - Breathe

Breathing, slow and steady while thinking the word.

And – this….

Light dispels darkness

The dark can’t stand against the light

There is no fight.

And …

Lose the fretting – Restore balance.

I first read ‘One Foot In The Stars’ by Matthew Manning in 1999 when recovering from a serious illness, and thought I’d read it again.  Here is something that I read yesterday…I presume that Matthew won’t mind my copying it as folk like him tend to believe in sharing beneficial thoughts and information.

“The next question for Joel Whitton was, ‘Which part of the brain is producing this pattern?’  Further tests with a computer at the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children revealed the source of the electrical energy as the limbic system, which lies beneath the cerebral cortex and may be described as the old animal brain we relied on before the development of our intellectual brain. Whitton concluded that the psychic power coming from it was ‘not a random gift, but an innate function and ability in the brain of homo sapiens, a function probably lost or defunct in most people for thousands of years.’

I was fascinated by the idea of my ‘ramp function’ being produced by the oldest, most central part of the brain……….

What I use is probably something all of us called on at some point in our evolution, perhaps to enable us to find food, shelter, water or direction.  For want of a better word, I shall call that something which derives from our old brain ‘intuition.’  We have now largely lost it because to all intents and purposes we have no need of it – technological progress has seen to that…..

As we progress in one direction, we seem to regress in another.”

I believe that I was losing my connection to LIFE.  Recent events in my/our life challenged me, and I went into a dark place - constantly comparing what I used to be able to do, with what I’m now able to do.

I feel I’m now re-connecting – starting to live with/through my limbic again.

One thing that came into my mind this morning is…

There is as little point in my asking myself what the point of my existence is, as in asking what the point of a sparrow’s existence is.

We watch the sparrers outside our house - they live their lives – as sparrows.  Can't I simply live my life as a human?  As long as I do no harm.

I’m going to remind myself that I’m part of LIFE - no more, no less.

A Clever Idea…

Looking ahead to the Ness dig….

…….but not forgetting The Cairns….

And……

I couldn’t help hearing the Benny Hill theme tune playing over the wee video of the busy, busy Cairns.
