Go Walkabout In Kilmorack Gallery…
“We have new work by four artists this week - James Newton Adams, Liz Knox, Allison Weightman and Peter White. We hope you can make it but, if not, we have created a fresh 3d walkaround so you can enjoy it remotely.
After this we have new work by two Shetland-based artists - Janette Kerr and Peter Davis. This will run from 29th April - 5th May. More next week.”

Schrodinger’s Noise…..
‘Fusion’ nightclub in Kirkwall is closed – has been closed since Covid arrived. There is a plan by an enterprising building firm to build a - much needed - small block of flats on the site of the old Scarth Centre - a plan which has been refused by Orkney Islands Council due to the possibility of noise from ‘Fusion’ disturbing the people living in the flats. Neither of which can be said to exist at the moment.
Taking ‘Fusion’ as the ‘box’ and the noise as the ‘cat’ – we have an example of the Schrodinger’s Cat dilemma –
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger%27s_cat
Presently the noise doesn’t exist, but potentially it might, and we don’t know what might happen, until/if it does.
This might read like non-sense – but that is the situation re. ‘Fusion’ and the block of flats.
Similar to the Schrodinger’s Covid situation…

There’s a lot of indecision/mistaken decisions going on at the moment.
When it comes down to it, what does Orkney need more - a block of flats, or a nightclub? A nightclub which - actually - doesn’t exist.
Meanwhile, in the island of sanity which we call home, we watch the life about us and try to not lose our grip.
We try not to.

The Wren doesn’t know that it’s the hedgehog’s dish…
Or maybe she doesn’t care. Why is a Wren referred to as ‘she’? Jenny Wren.
