Caerleon….
In the third Chapter of ‘Silver on the Tree’, Will ‘visits‘ Caerleon https://www.britannica.com/place/Caerleon in its Roman phase.
I visited the Roman amphitheatre at Caerleon years ago with someone who had a strong interest in the Roman occupation of Britain. He admired them - I thought they were Fascists, and still do. Which they turned out to be, centuries later. Musso’s Fascists turned an old emblem of strength in unity, to suit their own purposes … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasces
I see the ancient Romans as being all straight lines and regimentation – no thanks – I’m a curving Celt.
Remember what the Romans did to the Druids….. https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/wales/entries/375ec5d4-a10c-3f1a-929c-12d9697f3f58#:~:text=What%20happened%20was%20a%20massacre,hurled%20onto%20makeshift%20funeral%20pyres
Eminent archaeologist Dr. Euan Mackie wrote a paper about the possibility of ‘Priesthoods’ existing in the Early Bronze Age…. https://www.academia.edu/11470159/New_evidence_for_a_professional_priesthood_in_the_European_Early_Bronze_Age?email_work_card=abstract-read-more .
I’ve wondered, could those groups of Knowing Ones have stretched back into the Neolithic, producing such wonders as the EOASSK found at the Ness of Brodgar? https://theorkneynews.scot/2017/12/29/mathematical-musings-of-the-neolithic-kind/
From the Bronze Age through the Iron Age, becoming known as Druids, up to the ones that the Romans massacred. They may not have been called Druids, and may not have followed quite the same ways but I think, maybe, there could be a line to be followed, right through Time.
And there’s the Nebra Sky Disc, crafted in the Bronze Age…. https://theorkneynews.scot/2022/02/22/the-nebra-sky-disc/
I’ll just keep ramblin’ on….

The Music Of The Spheres….
Exactly what the title say it is….
The nearest we’ve got, up to now, was Gustav Holst’s ‘Planets’ suite, where each piece of music isn’t just about the planet, it is the planet, the essential being of the planets and their relationship to each other.
But now…..this…….holy moly…….

Pics of Scotland…..
From the 3rd to the 10th of February 2023…. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-64514238
A particularly wonder-full selection. A lot of reflection – of both kinds. Sunrises and sunsets – ‘Fire in the sky ‘ – it’s the time of year for it, in Scotland.
The stone arch and waterfall pic. taken by Ralph Greig reminded me of something similar in Happy Valley here in Orkney – with a dragon flying through the arch….
And at Inver Moriston near Loch Ness…. https://theorkneynews.scot/2017/10/07/bernie-bell-bernie-mikes-road-trip-spring-2017-9/
The Eider ducks took me back to when I worked at the ‘Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust’, Slimbridge and used to hear the male Eiders with their ‘How you doin’?’ call, and the females responding with what sounded like a derisive cackle!
