Livestock - Of Various Kinds….

I’m going to ramble on a bit….

It started with Bartholomew Barker’s Fraiku….which I posted in m’blog with a mention of Robinson RR’s most recent work in progress……..

“Fraiku:  Republicans

Sheep who’ll vote for a wolf
because he promises to eat
the Black ones first”

Robinson RR….

What happens when sheep vote for wolves……

Ear-tags – like livestock – which is how they are seen by this Tory Government.

Bartholomew & I then had an exchange….

Me….“This is what happens when sheep vote for wolves….”  https://theorkneynews.scot/2022/10/21/what-comes-next/

Bartholomew....“Yeah, I must admit to having a chuckle at the plight of your politics. Sorry about that. Scotland deserves much better.”

Me….“And will achieve better…the time is now!

You’re in good company…..http://www.spanglefish.com/berniesblog/blog.asp?blogid=15977

The whole idea – or ideas – around sheep voting for wolves is such a strong one.

So many messages……Don’t be a sheep – make your own choice. Don’t vote for wolves – they are predators by nature. It’s plain to see what happens when sheep DO vote for wolves – and so on, and so on……

A very, very strong concept which I hope gets picked up on widely.”

Bartholomew……“Thank you. I’m also rather proud of bringing the “black sheep” concept into the haiku too.”

Me…..“Indeed. The Public Order Bill which has just been passed here means that any ‘black sheep’ can be tagged – as livestock are…..

And there are the wolves who prey on the people desperate to get away from danger.

So much there Bart, in so few words.”

The Public Order Bill?.....

Is that how the wolves see us – as livestock? Or serfs?  Are we going back to a time when serfs belonged to their masters, and if they didn’t do what they were told, the masters could do with them as they chose – same as their livestock – or slaves?

I’m reminded of the song ‘Wade in the Water’….  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_euSS86dvE – slaves crossing rivers to throw the dogs off their scent – hoping for a better life on the other side.

There are layers upon layers to this idea of the sheep and the wolves.

Another aspect of Bartholomew’s  ‘sheep’ concept worth considering  is that some of the paler coloured sheep resent the darker coloured sheep  and rely on the wolves to ‘keep them in their place’.

And now, the next window on his work from Robinson RR….

Part of an email to my niece, who lives in The Republic of Ireland  - I repeat – the REPUBLIC of Ireland…..

“We’re glad that we live in Orkney, not England – which is a cess-pit these days.”

Gotta larf, ain’t ya’?.....

I see that Charlie is selling off some of Lizzie’s race-horses…. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-63350756 and I was hoping that maybe he’d cut his links to that particular ‘sport’ – but it looks like that isn’t so.

I was reminded of this…..  https://theorkneynews.scot/2021/04/28/raising-a-big-question-mark-over-horse-racing/

Here’s something more positive - that I made earlier……. https://theorkneynews.scot/2019/01/28/a-different-perspective-on-the-narnia-books-of-c-s-lewis/
