National Poetry Day……Water Matters….. Suella/Cruella…..
Tomorrow is National Poetry Day - and by ‘National’ - I mean Scotland! ……https://www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk/national-poetry-day-2022/
The theme is The Environment, so I thought I’d post Mike’s poem about The Reason For Green…..

Water Matters…..
I’m going to quote at some length from Ian Marchant’s book ‘A Hero For High Times’. I don’t think he’ll mind.
Basically, this bit is about water and how the public should have some say in how their water supply is managed – not just by big corporations which want to make money. Look at what’s happened to England’s water supply… https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/62575308
Here’s what happens in Wales - a semi-detached nation which has some control over its own resources. Over to you Ian…
“I realise that not everyone is fortunate enough to live in Wales, but I’m also sharing a link to Dwr Cymru, aka Welsh Water. This is worth looking at because Welsh Water is not part of a huge multinational, but is owned by a not-for-profit company controlled by the Welsh Government. It is, in short, a nationalised industry in all but name. It is morally wrong, isn’t it, to profit from water? You may not be able to get your water from Dwr Cmru, but have a look at how they are structured, and wonder why something like this doesn’t operate anywhere else in the UK. https://corporate.dwrcymru.com/en/about-us”
Something to think about.

Suella/Cruella……
I watched/listened to Suella Braverman at the Tory Party Conference.....

.....and remembered a song by Leon Rosselson called H-A-N-G-O, which takes the piss out of that kind of mindset.
I can’t find lyrics for the song, and can only remember some of them…………….
"I am a Tory lady, sir,
Of gentle disposition
I go to church on Sunday, sir
And feel it is my mission
To educate the masses
In the art of gracious living
By teaching them to follow
The example we are giving.
I donate to worthy charities
And treat my servants kindly
I never use a vulgar word
I always speak refinedly
For there is no excuse
For those who use abuse
The mob, sir
Who rob, sir
The hooligans and Teddy boys
The flick knives at the ready boys
The ones who never do a decent job, sir.
If only they’d be civilized
And throw away their razors
Take off their leather jackets
And put on their cricket blazers
For they could be respectable
And still have lot of fun, sir
And they can join the army
If they want to play with guns, sir."
And – look at her - just flamin’ LOOK at her! Chills the blood. ‘Cruella, Cruella Deville’…….. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXTQWVqBDWY
