Hi, Guys

Haven’t spoken to you guys for a long time. Hope all is well with you and your dear family.

You guessed it right, I am going to talk about BECAA, our dear old Alumni of BEC/BESU. You all know that our Association was going through a difficult patch.  Advancing age of some of our energetic and active members coupled with preoccupation with family and work let the slide to occur.  Some even went as far as to say that BECAA is in terminal mode.  But, please do not despair; I take great pleasure in advising you all that situation has been reversed – a batch of young and energetic Alumnus has come forward to stem the halt and this young Brigade is led by Debajyoti Chakraborty.  He has received mandate from all existing old/new Committee Members.  His new team will comprise of Kallol Ghosh, Arijit Ghosh Dastidar, Kingsuk Bose, Sanjit Jha & Mrs Jha and Sudip Mazumder (now in Mumbai), small but sufficiently big to energise the revival plan.  At this stage there is no emphasis on designations etc., this will come in the future.  The immediate task before this group is to create a Steering Committee with a life of six months.  This will see through the Reunion 2012 and the experience gained will then form the basis of a new Committee to be christened formally.

It is also a matter of record that all Committee Members of the “older” generation supports the succession plan and they have committed to help the new incumbents as much as is required.  This group includes Mrityunjoy Banerjee, Nandalal Ghosh the two most important members of the existing Committee followed by Jaydeb Nandy, Sandip Maitra, Biman Ghosh and up to a point, me.  At present I am advising Debajyoti.

Like you, I believe that this Association of ours is greatly indebted to Mrityunjoyda and Nanda and it will be very difficult to replace them.  But, Old order must change yielding place to the new.

       THE KING IS DEAD - LONG LIVE THE KING...

 2011's annual reunion took place in Indian YMCA, London.

Around 60 of us, ex-students and their family members, enjoyed a very animated event with music from Kingsuk, including poetry recitation from  Chitra Ghosh, Joydep Nandi and his daughter and the election of many young members onto the Executive Committee.   The outgoing Committee were warmly applauded for their many years of service...

Refreshments and dinner were excellent and we watched a DVD on Bahá'í Faith, which Bibhas & Carolyn Neogi brought along.   This included the famous Delhi Lotus Temple and quoted Mahatma Gandhi's endorsement.    You can view this on
