CHILD WELFARE

Clink on the the FA logo above for a link to the FA Football Safe web pages for more information on Child Welfare and football.

Sometimes we all forget that the football club that we are involved in is for the benefit of the children, not the adults who organise, coach or support them. To this end we all have a responsibility to ensure that the well being of the children is paramount, that they are not being physically abused, verbally abused or bullied by adults or children. All of the club's coaches and officials have undertaken criminal records checks with the FA's Criminal Record Board (CRB).

From September 2008 all clubs will be obliged to have in place a Child Welfare Officer who has attended the FA Welfare Officer Workshop. Our Welfare Officer, Simon, attended this in November 2007. Any clubs who have failed to send a representative by this date will be prevented from affiliating with their County FA which in turn will prevent them from registering with any leagues, which indicates how seriously this is being taken

It is important that both players, parents, officials and spectators are aware that there is a way of reporting their concerns about unacceptable, bad or poor practices. Please be assured that anything reported will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
