The Woking Debates
Woking Action For Peace is organising a series of debates with the purpose of stimulating active participation by the community in some of the underlying issues facing todays world.

The sessions will be held at Christ Church in the town centre on Saturday mornings from 11.00am to 12.30on the third Saturday of each month from January to June 2013

The suggested subjects so far are:

Is war ever justified, does military intervention in other countries really work and is it the right thing to do?

To rent or buy what is the future of housing?

Is the present education system providing a stimulating environment in which to learn and prepare young people for the future?

Are governments really serious about saving the planet from the polluting habits of mankind,if not what can be done about it?

Refugees, what are their stories and how can communities help them?

Who are the terrorists?

We plan that the speaker will introduce the session for 20 minutes followed by a discussion for an hour or so.

We hope that your group would be interested in these debates and would like to invite you to be part of the planning. We are having our next meeting on Tuesday 17 July at 7.30pm at

Woking Quaker Meeting House
41 Park Road
Woking
GU22 7DB

and would love to see a representative from your group there to contribute to this exciting venture. If you can come we would be grateful if you could reply to this email to keithsc_2000@yahoo.com.

Best wishes

new to this site
Hello,
I have been reading about the Bahai values, and it sounds soul enriching.I am very interested in getting involved, and indeed becoming a member. I live in Sussex, so not too far away. Can someone please send me details about any meetings or events that are coming up?

Thanks

I'm so sorry that this message wasn't picked up sooner.

Where in Sussex do you live?

Guildford's Secretary is away at the moment, so you might like to contact me on GodalmingBahais@aol.com
and I will put you in touch with the nearest believers

Finding you...
I am so pleased that there seems to be a Baha'i community in Guildford! I have lived here for nearly four years and have been searching for a spiritual community, but have found none (looked in all the wrong places). My first meeting with Baha'i was in Kampala, Uganda, where I used to live a stone throw away from their beautiful temple. I wasn't ready for it then, but a lot has changed since and I would now very much like to approach it again.

I can't seem to find any information about any meetings or events. Do people meet up? Would it be open for 'newbies'? How can I find out?

Many thanks!

Dear May,

I just spotted your message on Guildford Baha'is website.
I'm sure you'll hear from their secretary soon if you haven't already. I live in Farncombe, just outside Guildford, where are you? We have monthly meetings at Godalming Pepperpot, and others by arrangement :)
