Art Psychotherapy
Art Psychotherapy is a form of therapy where thoughts, feelings and emotions can be explored through the process of making art.
Everyone can find talking about certain things difficult when they are asked to use words, but using colours, shapes or textures can express these more easily.
Making your own art can be a way to help you express how you feel and may lead to an understanding of yourself and your worries. Art may also be a way of managing some difficult feelings.
Images are not analysed or interpreted during sessions. However, I do listen, reflect and attempt to identify what the artist is conveying through their work.
Anything discussed in Art Psychotherapy will be treated as confidential. Work created during the sessions are confidentially stored by myself whilst therapy is in progress. This ensures the images are kept safe and undamaged.
Sessions are held at the same time each week and we meet in the same room. This enables the client to feel safe.
