News Letter November 2007

Firstly, the committee would like to welcome everybody to Albion Youth Football Club and to the new season.   The committee consists of Chairman, Richard Clarke, Secretary, Gordon Drake and Treasurer John Williams. The Child Welfare Officer is Nicky Clarke and Child Protection Officer is Kirsty Brooks. More information can be found on our Web site by logging onto the address at the bottom of this page.

We start the season with 3 teams. The under 7’s managed by Martyn Brooks, the under 12’s managed by Richard Clarke and the under 14’s who are managed by Neale Sear.  A big ‘thank you’ to all managers, trainers, players and especially parents for your dedication and continued support.

Presentation Night

For those of you who attended the presentation night at the end of last season, we hope you had a good evening.  There were some technical hitches on the night with the PA system and apologies if you were unable to hear - we will endeavour to put it right next time.  The raffle raised £92, which was a great achievement.  If you have any ideas on how the presentation night can be improved, please let us know.

Coaching update

Congratulations go to Neale Sear and John Williams on attaining the ‘Herts FA level 1’ coaching qualification.  If you want to get involved with football but are not sure where to start, log onto the Herts FA web site and have a go at the Soccer Parent course. The course offers practical advice, hints and tips on what it takes to be a supportive soccer parent and how to positively influence young players. It only takes about 15 minutes and issues a certificate when you have completed it.

Fundraising

This season the committee will be looking at fundraising ideas. Please let us, or the team managers, know if you have any ideas or resources that may be available to the club. For instance, we are always looking for people in the printing trade to help with leaflets and booklets.

You may have noticed the sudden appearance of hot drinks for sale at matches. This is one fundraising initiative that is under way with positive results and has raised approximately £80 so far - regular customers have already been established (Joe)!

The club has received a donation of £150 from the grandparents of a player and £50 from Ray White (A.G. Aylward EMS Ltd) - Thank you!  Albion has also received news of two possible sponsorship deals, which is fantastic news. We will keep you informed as these develop.  We are currently obtaining quotes to purchase wet weather training tops for all ages and hope to have these late November.   All funding is much appreciated and will be put to good use.

Christmas Event

Albion’s Christmas ‘get together’ has been booked at The Granby in the Old Town on the 8th December, £13.95 for a 3 course meal. Hopefully, you should have received the details and menu by now, but if you have not please ask your manager.

Subscriptions

There are still some subs outstanding. It would be very much appreciated if these could be paid to your manger this week.  Please make all cheques payable to ‘Albion Youth’.

Once again, thank you for your support and we hope you all have an enjoyable and successful football season.
