ALYTH AND BLAIRGOWRIE CAMERA CLUB

PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
2024-2025

Meeting are held on Tuesdays, every other week starting at 7.00pm and finishing at 9.00pm.

Membership for the full year is £35.

Meetings are held in St Catharine’s Hall, George Street, Blairgowrie PH10 6EY.

Parking is available on the streets around the Hall.

NOTES:

  1. ALL “PROJECT” AND COMPETITION IMAGES MUST HAVE BEEN TAKEN SINCE JANUARY 2023.

  2. ON PRESENTATION NIGHTS, MEMBERS CAN BRING UP TO 2 IMAGES ON THE SELECTED “MONTHLY PROJECT”. MEMBERS CAN BE ASKED ON WHY THEY TOOK THAT IMAGE OR A TECHNICAL QUESTION. OTHER MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO CONSTRUCTIVELY CRITIQUE IMAGES PRESENTED.

  3. TOPICS FOR THE ADVICE CLINICS ARE TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE CHAIRPERSON IN ADVANCE.

AUGUST

Monday 26th First Committee Meeting - Preparation for 2024-25. Venue – Peter’s House.

SEPTEMBER

3rd Presentation of images from the Summer Visit Sites and Challenges – One for each Challenge and each Visit site only.

17th Speaker: Dougie Cunningham – Subject: “Photographing Scotland”

OCTOBER

1st Workshop: Print Mount Cutting and a demonstration of mounting images for competitions.

15th Novice Night: Working with experienced photographers preparing for the Novice Competition on 24th November (maximum of 3 still life images and 3 portraiture images per person)

Plus Practical for print mounting if required.

Hand in date for Open Digital and Open Print Competition. (Maximum 2 digital images and 2 prints per member).

Monday 21st Committee Meeting. Venue – Suz’s House.

29th Workshop Portraiture - Fun night, cameras, hats, scarves, flashguns, backgrounds and studio lights.

NOVEMBER

12th OPEN DIGITAL & OPEN PRINT COMPETITION: Maximum 2 Digital images and 2 Prints per member. Judge – TBC

26th NOVICE COMPETITION: Subjects - Still Life and Portraiture. (Maximum of 3 images for each subject per member). Judging will be by 2 non-involved members.

Also deadline for members to hand in up to 4 digital images (Not mobile phone) for the Knockout Competition.

DECEMBER

Photographic Project for this month is:” “Christmas Decorations”

101h Christmas Quiz and Buffet – Christmas jumpers and hats to be worn please

Friday 13 or 20th – Provisional Dates for Christmas Meal at the Strathmore Golf Club, 6.30 for 7.00pm

JANUARY

Photographic Project for this month is: “Car Light Trails”

7th KNOCKOUT COMPETITION: 4 digital images per member - Fun way to start the New Year.

21st  Open evening to include a discussion of items for next years programme.

Monday 27th Committee Meeting. Venue – Ian’s House.

FEBRUARY

Photographic Project for this month is: “Portrait of a Stranger”

4th Presentation: Members present their “December and January” project images, maximum 2 images per project, per member.

18th Speaker: Dr David Sadler ARPS, DPAGB, EFIAP/s, BPE4*, LBIPP – Subject: Macro Photography.

MARCH

Photographic Project for this month is: “Silhouette”

4th Workshop - Still life/Macro. Renember to bring subjects, camera and, if available a tripod.

18th Presentation - Members show their Portraiture and Still Life/Macro images from previous workshops. (Maximum of 2 images for each subject per member).

Hand in date for Digital Monochrome Open Competition. Maximum 4 digital images per member.

Monday 24th Committee Meeting. Venue – Peter’s House.

APRIL

1st Presentation: Member’s present their “February” and “March” project images. Maximum of 4 images per project, per member.

15th DIGITAL MONOCHROME OPEN COMPETITION. – Judge: TBC

29th Club AGM, Prize Awards and setting of Summer 2025-26 Challenges.
