Interested in Volunteering?
Volunteering can provide a great opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, develop your CV and get out and about helping your community. It can encompass almost anything, from gardening to sports coaching to raising money for a local charity and anything in between. The Volunteering Principles for Scotland say that volunteering must be done of your own free will, must benefit someone other than yourself and cannot be undertaken for financial gain, but beyond that, it’s up to you, so there’s every opportunity to find something that you really enjoy.
If you’re interested in volunteering in East or Central Sutherland - we can help!
At Voluntary Groups – East Sutherland we have a good idea of what’s going on in the area and who could use an extra pair of hands, so feel free to give us a phone, an email or pop in to see us in the office.
You can also have a look at the Volunteer Scotland website, where opportunities throughout Scotland are listed at the click of a button!
Volunteer Involving Organisations
If you work for or run an organisation that uses volunteers, VGS can offer practical advice and support on a range of topics, from Disclosures to Volunteer Policies and all manner of other bits and pieces in between. For information, you can see our Community Groups page or contact us in the office.
We are also able to deliver and support you through the Volunteer Friendly Awards – making sure your organisation provides the best possible experience for volunteers! For more information see: Volunteer Friendly
VGS is also hoping to re-boot our Volunteer Managers Forum. If you would like to be kept up to date with these forums, please send us an email on contact@vgs.scot to register your interest.
Celebrating Volunteering
At VGS we are always keen to highlight and celebrate the huge amount of time and effort volunteers put into brightening our communities. On this page you will find photos and updates on the work volunteers are doing in our area, how this is being celebrated and details of any upcoming Celebrating Volunteering events/award-nominations in the Highland area.
Remember: if you are under 25 and live in Scotland, you may be eligible to claim Saltire Awards in recognition of your volunteering. For more information, click here.
