Welcome to Glamis

Welcome to the website of Glamis and Area Community Council (GACC) in Scotland. If you are a resident of the area or a visitor, keep coming back to find out what's happening here.

Where is Glamis?

Glamis is a historic village in Angus in the North east of Scotland. It owes its fame to nearby Glamis Castle, centuries old and with connections right back to William the Lyon and the Declaration of Arbroath.

In more recent times the castle was the childhood home of HM The Queen Mother and the birthplace of HRH The Princess Margaret, the last member of the royal family to be born in Scotland.

Around Glamis

Within a few miles of Glamis can be found the villages of Charleston, Balkeerie and Douglastown, with the smaller settlements of Roundyhill, Jericho, Nether Handwick and Castleton nearby. Overall, the area has a population of around 1,100. The whole area lies in the Vale of Strathmore, with the heathery Sidlaw Hills to the south, and to the north the town of Kirriemuir and the Angus Glens.

So come and pay a visit and meet us, or get involved in contributing to the GACC website. We look forward to hearing from you.
