Rail coach homes for the future

Innovative plan for rail coach homes

and it could be done at the former Metal Box works

The refurbishment of old rail coaches could help to satisfy the shortage of homes and this could be done at the former Crown Metal Box works which is adjacent to the Neath railway line.

Here are examples of what rail coach homes could look like:

The lounge section.

The bedroom section

The kitchen

The access

Disused marshaling yards could be used for sites for the completed homes.

They could also make ideal holiday homes.

You’d be amazed at what you can do with an old train carriage or station! You might not think there would be a lot of space inside but clever conversions have worked wonders and you’ll find everything from master bedrooms in ‘1st class’ cabins to a lounge and kitchen.

If you’re really lucky you’ll get to stay in a converted station that still sits on a working railway line. Imagine stepping onto your own private platform and watching a steam train approach. That’s a truly magical experience.

Where can you see a steam train these days?   There are several heritage railways in the UK.  Arguably the most famous of all British heritage lines, the Bluebell Railway runs for 11 miles from East to West Sussex, between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead.

Also, there is the Gwili railway near Carmarthen.
