Off with the Queens Head

Off with the Queens head

An outside source says that the Queen's head is to be removed from British postage stamps and be replaced by a map of the British Isles.

It is alleged that HM Queen has long been unhappy that the figure of her head being on stamps issued by the privatised Post Office whose motive is to make money for foreign investors.

The Penny Black was the world's first adhesive postage stamp used in a public postal system. It was first issued in Great Britain on 1 May 1840, but was not valid for use until 6 May. It features a profile of Queen Victoria.

The Royal Mail. however, goes back to 1516.

The Post Office can no longer be classified as 'The Royal Mail' since it was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2013. The UK government initially retained a 30% stake in Royal Mail, but sold it's remaining shares in 2015 to American investors, ending 499 years of public ownership.

Margaret Thatcher and John Major (former Prime Ministers) both thought that the Queen's head should not be privatised as do millions of people living in the UK who have great respect for her.

Many other countries have their maps on their postage stamps, including Canada, as shown here.

It is not known when the Queen's head will be removed as Brexit has be be settled first.

The change is being done with respect for the Queen and in accordance with her wishes that she should remain apart from commercial enterprises, especially when foreign speculators are involved.
