Funeral Costs

What you should know about funeral costs

It is something we cannot avoid - our funeral, or that of a family member.

An Internet report says:

The average cost of a funeral in the UK is £4,271 for a standard cremation, including the doctor, funeral director and celebrant's fees and the cost of the cremation itself. That's according to Sun Life's 2018 Cost of Dying Report, with the average cost of a standard burial £4,798 in 2018, according to the same report.25 Feb 2019

Further research reveals that lowest price on the Internet for a cremation is £1,695.   But for those who cannot even afford that figure it is possible to make the arrangements for a cremation.    This information is not generally known as it not in the interests of those in the funeral business.

The Margam Cremortorium charge £605 for a cremation, which includes the use of the audorium and the services of the organist.   But what is not known is that if the deceased is taken to the cremortorium at 9:00am, and no use of the audorium, the cost is £505.

The necessary paperwork must obviously be presented, in the same way as a funeral director would present it.   The Registrar of Births and Deaths will present the necessary forms and other forms can be downloaded on line.   The superintendent at the cremortorium can advise on this - telephone No. 01639 883570.

Costs are as they apply on 19th March 2018 but should verified at the time of death.
