Barbers are the most informed people in Neath - so it seems
It's a fact, barbers meet people from all walks of life on a regular basis and are therefore more in touch with public opinion than anyone else.
One Neath barber says that the proposed Neath development plan will not bring business to Neath as shopping habits are changing for two reasons, one being the Internet and the other is car parking.
In out of town shopping centres the shopper can push a trolley to their car, in Neath that is not possible.
The barber mentioned above says that it would be far better to build an entertainment centre to draw people into the Neath town centre.
The entertainment could include ice skating, dancing, ten-pin bowling and even a cinema. Services could include a coffee shop, cafe, and a gift shop. With the right design it could be an ideal venue for weddings and anniversary functions.
The barber claims that something like this, with perhaps a craft museum added, would be a magnetic attraction for visitors, making Neath stand out from all other towns.
