Avoid impluse buying on the Internet
and the possiblity of being ripped off.
We investgate this Google advert:
The advert refers to PERSONAL ALARMS and after a clever introduction these are priced as follows:
A search on the Internet revealed a similar product with a higher decibel (louder) output at 140DB compared to 125DB of the one in question, at the the following prices:
Just a fraction of price! (source Amazon)
But the big catch is that the one under investigation is subject to an additional CUSTOMS CHARGE of £13.42, as shown below:
This makes the product even more expensive. Incidentally, this addtional customs charge was NOT mentioned on the advert website and therefore appears to be rather deceitful.
So the moral of this report is to look around at what is available before you buy - it could save you a lot of money and perhaps a better product.
