Warning to Home Owners about something that may be in their garden
It's about Japenese Knotweed, a plant so powerful that it can piece concrete, damage buildings and make homes harder to sell.
Neath Port Talbot Council is stepping up treatment of the troublesome plant on Council owned land and, in some circumstances, on land of unknown ownership.
And as part of its war against Japanese Knotweed, the Council is also planning to help householders who have problems with neighbouring land infested with Knotweed.

Can I Get Rid Of Knotweed Myself?
Yes, but with caution.
Disposal of the plant and its roots is controlled, you can't just dump it in your garden and recycling bins. It has to be disposed of in a specialised controlled landfill or incinerated at a licensed unit.
You could be fined up to £5,000 or be sent to prison for up to 2 years if you allow contaminated soil or plant material from any waste you transfer to spread into the wild.
