Automatic renwals looked at by Which?

Automatic Renewals of subscriptions and insurance policies should be carefully looked at

Often an initial offer for a subscription for something, including annual insurance policies, is followed by a steep rise when it comes to the renewal date.

The Which? magazine state that often there is an auto-renewal by default and this leads to renewal at a higher figure.   Consumers should be notified of any change prior to the renewal date, but this is often disregarded by the customer.

Ideally, the customer should be given the choice for auto-renewal, rather than the default system used by some firms.

Every renewal should be checked and contested if the price rise is unreasonable.   Many firms will revise the figure, rather than lose a customer.
