THE DONKEY VOTE

If you look for "The Donkey Vote" on Goggle you can find out about what it means.  But here in Neath (and other parts of the UK) there is another meaning.

It refers to the person who votes for a Labour candidate no matter who it may be.  As the old saying goes: 'if a donkey were the Labour candidate it would get elected' and it seems that this certainly applies to voters in Neath who more often than not vote how their fathers and grandfathers did in years gone by.

Having said that, our voting system here in the UK, commonly called first past the past, cannot be considered fair as it it does not truely represent all the voters, except where there are ony two candidates up for election.

In the opinion of many people in the UK, no person should be elected as a MP unless he/she gets over 50% of the votes cast.    This is just plain common sense.

The last general election proved the unfainess of our system when over 4 million voted for UKIP and only one UKIP MP got elected
