HISTORY

On the 1st of March 1905 nine prominent businessmen of Tain met to discuss the formation of a  Bowling Club and that the club be named Saint Duthus Bowling Club. By the end of 1905 a total of 8 meetings had been held, a committee formed and the construction of the green commenced. The green was officially opened on Thursday the 14th June 1906 at 4.00pm by Mrs. Provost Fowler of Mansfield.

On the 23rd February 1907 St. Duthus along with Invergordon, Ardross Alness, Dingwall and Beauly met with a view to forming a league involving the clubs on a home and away basis. The league was to be called The Northern Bowling League. The Northern Bowling League is still in existence in its original form although due to the increase in clubs they now only play each other only once per year.

A new clubhouse was built in the 1980's which has enabled the members to play on 3 short mat carpets during the winter.
