Queen's Coronation Documentary
04 June 2012

As part of Selkirk's celebrations of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee the Film Club is showing "A Queen Is Crowned", the 1953 documentary of the Coronation. Recently restored, this Technicolor film was rush released to cinemas in 1953 to allow the largely non-television owning British public the chance to see the Queen Regnant ascend to the Throne. Narrated by Laurence Olivier this lavish film is a chance to see a very different Britain, deferential and respectful, still emerging from the war years and looking to a 27 year old beauty to lead her people to prosperity.
At The County Hotel, Monday 4th June, doors open 7.30, film starts at 8.00, tickets from The County, £5/£3 concs. or on the door on the night.
