Memories of Teddy

by Julia Robinson - 14:08 on 07 March 2011

It was lovely to see our friend Sandra Delamere on Saturday in the Gellions and in Macnabs. We have some wonderful memories of her husband Teddy Delamere who passed away at the end of last year. He was such a lovely man, so kind and considerate. A charming man if ever there was one. He is sorely missed by all of us and we are so glad that Sandra came along to see us. Hopefully it won't be too long before we see her again.

I have just returned from a few days in Dublin where I heard the sad news of Teddy Delamere. We lived for a year in 2003 in Dublin and would often pop into the Temple Bar pub for a drink. That was the first time I met him and Brendan Savage playing. What a wonderful funny man who had a ready smile whenever you saw him.Brilliant musician and a very kind and gracious man. When he heard we were going back to live in Perth he brought me in a CD with himself on banjo mandolin and vocals Joe White guitar and vocals and Tommy Jenks mandolin.I cant believe that when he died I was in Donegal celebrating my birthday and I had a notion to contact Brendan to see if they could play at my party even though I hadnt seen either of them in years and that was the weekend he died.Would you pass on my condolences to his wife who I never met and also to yourselves for the loss who was undoubtedly a great friend of yourselves.I must follow your webpage and find out where you are playing so I can come up and listen to you sometime.Yours in sympathy Chic.

Hi Chic, Thank you for sharing your memories of Teddy with us. He was indeed a wonderful man and we still find it hard to believe he's gone. I will certainly pass on your condolences to Sandra and Teddy's family. Sandra has been over several times and is hoping to return to Inverness again some time over the summer. Do let us know if you make it up to listen to the band. It's always a pleasure to meet new friends. Best regards, Sandra
