Surprises at Finlay's!

by Julia Robinson - 13:45 on 02 February 2009

Went to Finlay's on Saturday night - no surprise there I hear you say! Our friends from Dublin (Sandra and Teddy) were over and we were all set for a good night, having already been in the Gellions since 5 o'clock - oh yes!!

Got a phone call from my daughter. Where was I? and could she come and join me with her pal, Ashley? Aye, no bother, come and enjoy a bit o teuch!!

So Karen turns up and - to her eternal embarrassment - I proudly introduce her to all the folk who come along to the gigs and hear me talk about her all the time. (Isn't it great when the kids grow up and you can get back at them for all the things they did and said to embarrass you when they were small!!!!)

Anyway, there I am, showing off my new prowess on the dance floor, when I turn around and let out a huge yelp of surprise because, right there in front of me is my baby sister Audrey and her husband Alan (who live in Fochabers) and who've just been to see 'Sunshine on Leith' at Eden Court and thought they'd pop in and hear the band I've been talking about for over 7 years! I was so excited, you'd think I hadn't seen them for years instead of just 2 weeks ago when I was at my mum's.

Well, I have to say they had a great time and are planning to come back again soon. Their friends Kenny and Brenda loved it too and I have them on video getting into the spirit with some real ceilidh dancing with the crowd. We'll soon have them hooked - like Gary from Colorado who left a comment on the GUESTBOOK a few days ago!

Think it's time I set up a Schiehallion Fan Club!!!
