Swiss Businessman Buys Sanda
22 June 2010

At the end of April, the ownership of Sanda passed from Dick and Meg Gannon to Michi Meier, a Swiss businessman, living in Sweden.

Former employees of the Gannons, Charles and Wendy McVey, have been installed as the resident managers of the island. Mr Meier and his wife intend to visit at least monthly, and have plans to upgrade and replace some of the buildings.

The Byron Darnton pub has reopened for meals and non-alcolic drinks, and accommodation will be available. A drinks licence is in the pipeline.

At present there is no island boat, so getting there needs to be under your own steam, or by charter locally. A Sanda boat is to be purchased, and is planned to operate from the mainland shore opposite Sanda.
