SLLIBA Triples see new Champions
24 March 2012

On Saturday the 12th of March, the Associations last competition, the Triples, took place in Kyleakin.

As usual, it was a well run competition and a huge thank you goes out to Kyleakin for running it on behalf of the Association.

I believe it was a first ever final that saw 2 pairs of Husband and wife teams, with Malcolm and Sylvia Pickering along with 'ex Lochlash singing sensation' Ronnie McRae taking the trophy by beating Dave and Heather Harrigan who played along with Donald Adams.

With having to conquer three Kyleakin teams en-route no one could deny that the Portree trio deserved their victory.

They faced Scottish Internationalists, and another husband and wife team of Chris and Jill MacKinnon playing alongside Kenny MacPherson in the quarter finals. This game went all the way and ended with Malcolm winning the extra end.

This only lead them to face Ian Sikorski, John Govier and ever improving Dave Nelson in the semi finals. A tough match but yet another scalp for them.

It was then onto the final which saw them take a 5 shot advantage going into the last end. This proved to much for the Kyleakin trio and we were able to put new names on the trophy.

Congratulations to Malcolm, Sylvia and Ronnie

League Table update
27 February 2012
South League Played Won Lost Drawn Points Shots + Shots- Diff +/-
Kyleakin 8 5 3   10 233 180 +53
Plockton 8 5 3   10 199 210 -11
Kintail 8 4 4   8 208 199 +9
Lochalsh 7 4 3   8 176 170 +6
Sleat 7 1 6   2 160 205 -45
Lochcarron

Lochalsh have still to play Sleat and would have to win the match by 48 shots to pip their fierce rivals Kyleakin for the League. What an incentive!

I am sure they would will be happy with their performance no matter the outcome!
