RAF Lossie v Park Vale 20/11/10
League Cup

I don't like to mention the Referee's performance!

This was in fact a Cup game, something that the gaffer didn't realise till half time.  Enough to get him the donkey nom.  The Crabs bought back Cheesy, Paddy, and Gaz Mac into the starting 11, which ment some rotaion, with Olly switching to right back, and Paddy in the middle.  The Lossie gaffer also bought Spunky back into the squad with a place on the bench.  Vale were quite a young side with plenty of running, thankfully the pitch had been rolled mid week, so it wasn't in that bad a nick.  Vale started quick and put us under some pressure.  Ross did well in the sticks picking everything out the air.  Lossie defence were playing not bad either.  Lossie took the lead mid way through the first, Alcock one the ball in the middle then played to Paddy, who linked up well with Gaz up top, Paddy got the shot away, which the keeper saved but Tam was there with the rebound.  It was around this time when Lossie were starting to get wound up with the ref.  Vale pulled it back in contraversial style, when the ball clearly went out for a goal kick, Lossie didn't play to the whistle, and Vale magaged to scrammble the ball in.  Lossie understandibly felt aggreved, but should of kept their cool a bit better.  Some rash challenges were putting Lossie under unnecessary pressure.  Again Vale scored through a bit of luck, the ball bouncing off players landed right in front of the Vale attacker 2-1.  Lossie change to 4-3-3.  Spunky came on.  Everytime Lossie won the ball the ref would blow up for a free kick.  Lossie stook to their guns and didn't back down, and deserved their equaliser.  Dale slotted the ball home from close range after the ball rebounded to him.  2-2 it stayed till the final whistle.  No extra time striaght to pens.  Ross was the hero in the sticks saving 2 of their 4 pens. while Cheesey, Matt Smith, Dale Smith, and Tam Hearns scored for Lossie.  Paddy the unfortunate one that missed for Lossie.

Pros: Through to next round v Nairn, great goal keeping display
Cons: Need to turn ten minutes of playing football into 90.

RAF Lossie v Fochabers 13/11/10
League

Lossie didn't think they would lose it, untill they lost it!

With a strong line up Lossie were convinced they would get the 3 points.  As always if you go in thinking that you are going to steam roller someone it often ends up going the other way.  Lossie gave away 2 cheap goals in the first half, and started to argue between themselves.  After a few mad minutes lossie got themselves together and pulled one back through the penalty spot.  After the break Jamie had a few stern words, Lossie came out the blocks a bit quicker and pulled it back 2-2.  At this point lossie looked in control and created a great deal of chances, the picth didn't help to convert these opportunities.  Again lapses in concentration cost lossie.  As they were looking on top Neil played a weak pass back to Johnny, that was intercepted by the Bers forward.  3-2.  With Lossie now needing to push forward a lot more, they got caught at the back and one on one Johnny bought down the attacker in the box. 4-2.  With little time left, Lossie looked dejected.  The game ended 4-2 to Bers.

Whitburn Jrns V RAF Lossie 02/10/10
Scottish Junior Cup

The rain in Scotland falls mainly on Whitburn!

A long awaited return to the Scottish Junior Cup for RAF Lossie, after a 2 year suspension, which made all the headlines in the national press.  With all the odds stacked up against RAF Lossie, they went there with the mindset of causing an upset.  A long trip down to Whitburn didn't help, but as always nothing is easy with RAF Lossie.  Lossie were very impressed with the set up that Whitburn have.  Although the pitch was less impressive.  All the rain in Scotland over the previous four days must have fallen on the Whitburn pitch, you could see that if it were to be a nice day the pitch would be great to play on,it was just a shame that the rain turned it in to a mud bath.  Lossie started ok creating a few chancies, a lucky goal after 20mins coming from a miss hit cross set the ball rolling.  The second came from a counter where on a different pitch might not have happened.  The third a penalty which was never a pen.  The forth a good strike from about 25yards.  The fifth came from not being able to kick the ball with your left foot, as the GK clearence went straight to the attacker.  the sixth was a bautifully taken OG by JG, unlucky dude.  Although the scorline suggests a white wash, it was infact a white wash.  No Lossie played some good football at times.  Needless to say the new white shorts are not white any more.

Pros: Bang bus ride on the way back was fuckin crackin, oh and Alcock another 90 mins.
Cons: 6-0 scoreline say no more.

Lossie were looking to get a much needed win under their belt, after a few tough trips away to stiffer competition.  The good football that was played in the weeks prior was no where to be seen in the first half, as Lossie couldn't keep hold of the ball, the players were starting to get on each others backs to the dismay of Jose Reilly.  Lossie however did manage to get the first goal, neat work from Tam and Spunk, fed Frankie the ball through the middle who shot outside the box and into the bottom corner.  You would of thought that this would settle the RAF boys, but Fochabers started to press, it seemed they had an extra man in the middle, which they used to their advantage.  Jose Reilly spotted the problem in the middle and changed to a 433.  This came a bit late as a mix up at the back and a lack of closing down led to the equalizer.  After the break Jose made one change bringing the left sided Dale for Tam.  Again Lossie couldn't get the football flowing and Fochabers looked the more likely to steel the three points, if it wasn't for Jimmy at the back they might just of done that.  Jimmy throwing himself in front of anything they hit.  Lossie did put a spell together at the very end of the game when sub Olly game on fed Paddy the ball into the box some good foot work by the Jack earned Lossie a last minute pen.  Not many takers for last min pens, but Frankie stood up to the task 2-1 Lossie boys.

Plus' from the game: 3 points, Alcock another 90 mins.
Cons from the game: Shocking fooball display, getting on each others backs.

A fixture where venue was re-arranged at the last minute, thanks to the north region.  But one where Bishopmill were happy to accomodate.  With Sam missing Johno stepped up in the sticks, and had very little to do all game, in fact the bish keeper was the same, neither side having much in the way of clear cut opportunities.  Lossie always knew that this would be a physical game, going on previous games.  Lossie gave as good as they got, but got involved with the mouthy side of the game.  there was one good counter attack were Lossie broke from a corner, Alcock played a ball to Gaz, Gaz picked out Tam who was through on goal, the keeper stayed big and pulled off a decent save.  Spunk also went through and should of scored only to screw his shot a foot wide of the post.  Bish scored mid way through the 1st.  the old ball over the top, lossie were trying to play offside, but with no linesmen its always a dodgy call, the lad was allowed to go on and slotted past Johno.  That was all Johno had to do all game.  he was however nomiated donkey for his barthez immpression.  Second half lossie played a lot better, but again with out the final ball.  Tam did manage to rattle the bar, with a good effort just on the edge of the area.  So lossie out of another cup, one plus is that Alcock started his first game this season.  Mon the crabs

Lossie travelled to Newmacher and arrived in good time for a change.  Lossie wearing the new strip of blue white blue.  Lossie started very brightly, passing the ball and find feet, the pace was fast but couldn't find the final ball.  This eventually was costly, as a lapse in concentration provided Utd with their first goal. Lossie lost possesion from a throw in, which left the defence open, utd took the opportunity.  This was pretty much the only time utd were in Lossie's half.  Newmacher 2nd came about much like the first, a mistake left the door open, Sam was on the way down to the right when the ball took a deflection.  Know one could understand how Lossie were losing this game, but they did.  A good performance on a good pitch, but a shit result.  Looking forward to playing them on the field of dreams.  Mon the crabs.

Lossie took the long trip to Peterhead, to play Hearts, who are currently top of the 1st division.  With Lossie on a good run of form at the moment, they were hoping to keep it going.  With various players missing, there were wholesale changes throughout the team.  Hearts started quite brightly, a mistake from Sam was thankfully not punished as Hearts attacker found the bar.  It took a while for Lossie to start finding feet, when they did, they got behind Hearts, but couldn't find the net.  Gaz Mac was playing well up top, holding on to the ball and bringing in the midfield.  Hearts did take the lead after the break.  But this didn't deter Lossie, who started playing the better football, Jamie rang the changes midway through the second, with Matty Smith making an immedite impact, Tam ran down the right, cut inside, but got tackled, the ball broke to Matty, who smashed the ball across, the keeper made a hash of it, and the ball deflected in.  2 mins later Matty could of made it 2-1.  Good work through the midfield agian, sent Matty away on the left hand side, with him baring down on goal, he tryed to curl it, but it just over.  Hearts did put Lossie under quite a bit of pressure in the last 5 mins.  But the defence stood strong, with Sinky getting his body in the way on numerous occasions.  The game went to pens, look good on tv not so good when its your team.  Sinky, Munro, Spud, Spunky and Gaz were the Lossie takers.  Lossie lost the shootout 3-1, with Spud the only scorer for the crabs, they are still looking for the ball after Spunk struck it.

Final game of the Grill Cup at home to New Elgin, looking for another win against higher league oppositon.  The game started brightly for the hosts with the 3 up front causing problems.  Lossie got their reward when Frankie ran on to a through ball by Andy, showing his strength to hold off the defender and finishing well high into the net.  Lossie were battling well all over the park to get possession and trying to get the ball moving quickly.  HT 1-0.

Second half saw a strong wind appear from nowhere to aid the home side.  Lossie continued to have the better of possession for the first 15 minutes or so, with New Elgin left looking for the long ball down the channels.  However, Burky and Andy were well on top against the New Elgin wide players.  Last 30 minutes saw New Elgin have more of the ball and put the Lossie back line under intense pressure.  Towards the end the visiting keeper came up for set pieces and caused some panic, but to no avail as Lossie held on for the win.  Despite the pressure at the end, the fact Sam had very little to do in goals shows how well Lossie defended as a team.  A welcome victory meaning Lossie finish with 6 points from a group containing 2 Superleague teams and 2 1st Division teams.  Not a bad return at all.

With Lossie winning the first league game against Nairn, and getting a great result against Buckie Rovers in midweek, we were looking for another good result, but more importantly a good display.  The wind was strong and blowing staright across the pitch.  Lossie started quite brightly with a couple of corners in quick succession, one of which we did have the ball in the back of the net only for Matty's effort to be ruled offside.  Both teams were sparring with each other, with neither playing much in the way of the beautiful game. Lossie eventually took the lead through Gaz Mac after some good work by MofM Frankie.  Gaz was making a nusicence of himself in the 6 yard when the ball broke to him, he slotted it in.  After the first goal the flood gates opened, Lossie scored four in the space of 10 mins.  Again hard work by Frankie and Gaz up top provided the goals, Paddy also got in on the action, with a well taken header.  Lossie were 4 up at the break.   After the break Vale came out the better side, and put us under quite a bit of pressure.  A poor goal kick led to their goal.  Jamie bought on the invaluable Alcock for Spud, who unsurprisingly cut open the Vale defence with a perfect throughball to Frankie, who slotted well to get his second of the game and Lossie's 5th.  Vale weren't giving up, and getting putting Lossie under pressure.  The lossie defence stood firm, which enabled Lossie attacking line to create numerous chances, none of which came to fruition.  In teh end Lossie won 5-1, a score line that flattered Lossie, but one that we will take, which puts us top of the league, say we are top of the league, Mon the crabs!!

Away again to higher League opposition on what turned out to be a decent evening despite the wet weather during the day.  Both teams struggled to find their touch as the ball zipped about, and decent football was hard to find as the ball kept going long or players getting closed down in a congested midfield.  Not much to talk about really, except a booking for Burky.  A couple of chances at either end didn't provide any goals although Buckie were probably the better team as the sides went in at 0-0.
Second half started with a bit more urgency from both teams.  Lossie drew first blood with a strike from the edge of the box from Tam.  Paddy touched the ball into Tam's path and he finished into the corner.  Not long after, Burky picked up a second booking, much to the disbelief  of the away team, then followed the red card.  Off.  A harsh sending off, from an away perspective at least.  Buckie quickly got back on level terms, a corner went unchallenged and a home player headed into the net.  Couple of changes made with Munro coming on for Gaz and Tom coming on for Tam in a tactical re-shuffle.  It was backs to the wall stuff at times but Lossie were still picking up a fair amount of 2nd ball in the middle and breaking quickly despite the tired legs.  The hard work got its reward when Frankie broke into the box and finished low to the keepers left.  2-1 with 5 minutes to go.  Lossie held on, hard work combined with a bit of luck gave us our first win in this seasons Grill Cup.  Lossie will need to up their game a bit to ensure there are no slips in the League on Saturday.

Another tough away game,  this time away to Superleague Banchory.     The game started well for Lossie with Spud screwing a chance wide within 10 seconds, the home side not touching the ball at all.  The game flowed at a high tempo and chances were created at both ends.  Banchory were showing their class and at times were pulling Lossie defenders out of position.  Eventually the hosts scored the opener, a bit of luck with a ricochet between Jimmy and Sam left the forward with an open goal to score.  Lossie are a resilient bunch these days though, and once again bounced back to equalise.  Gaz broke through and when one on one with the keeper, he squared it to Tam to poke home.  One all at HT.
The second half started with Banchory obviously looking to turn the screw.  Eventually they got the second from the penalty spot, Lee diving in and clipping the forward.  The third came quickly afterwards and the legs started to feel heavy after a lot of running on a warm day.  Lossie kept on plugging away and created a couple of decent chances but failed to hit the back of the net.  Although Gaz did manage to hit the back of beyond with a free kick just outside the box!  The fourth came from the spot too.  Jimmy was adjudged to have fouled in the box and the forward duly netted.  The game drew to a close with the hosts taking the points.
Not a bad effort from the team, plenty running and chasing back against a slick team.  Again, chances were being created and it took 2 penalties to give Banchory a more comfortable looking result than they possibly deserved.

First League game away to Nairn.  Strong squad despite not having a few of the guys who done so well on Saturday available.  Lossie started well, playing the ball around well but too often the final pass left a lot to be desired.  A chance fell to Tam after Spud rattled the crossbar, but the home keeper kept his effort out.  Lossie were getting a lot of possession in the midfield area due to the hard work of Spunk and Spud, and after some neat passing, better chances were being created but Lossie couldn't find the opener.  Nairn gave the visitors a scare right on half time when a well worked move resulted in an effort just past the post.
The 2nd half saw Lossie take the lead after great running by Andy Morgan.  He found himself on the edge of the box when the ball was cut back to him and he finished well into the far corner.  Soon after Gaz McNicol come on for the hard working Matt Smith and he made an immediate impact.  A 10 minute hat-trick.  Three great finishes effectively killed the game off.  Despite some pressure from the home side from set pieces and a spell when they were on top, the score stayed 4-0 to Lossie.  A good start to the League campaign.

Tough start to the new season welcoming Super League Fraserburgh to our new pitch in this Grill Cup fixture.
A bright start from Lossie created a few scoring opportunities, but none of them led to a goal.  The pace on the wings and up front were worrying Fraserburgh to the point that they made a double substitution after only 30 minutes.  The back four and Sam in goals were doing well, limiting the visitors to a few half chances.  At Half Time though, the score was still 0-0.
The 2nd half started much the same way until Fraserburgh scored the opener.  A long ball wasn't dealt with properly and the ball fell to the 'Broch forward who finished well.  However, it didn't take long for Lossie to get themselves back on level terms.  After a decent spell of pressure the ball fell to Mike McGregor who curled in a low effort just inside the far post.  Lossie's tails were now up and created numerous good chances.  An effort from Tam was chopped off as the Refs Asst ruled Mutchy offside as he knocked the ball back across goal, and Matt Smith hit the bar when it looked a certain goal.  As the game neared its end, Fraserburgh scored their 2nd.  The defence couldnt close down an effort from the edge of the box, Sam saved well but the rebound fell to the forward in the box who poked the ball in the net.  Lossie pushed for the equaliser but ran out of time.
A positive display from Lossie who need to keep this level of performance up.  A few players coming back, so the players in possession of the jerseys know that they can't afford to put in a poor performance.  Fraserburgh will have left knowing they were lucky to leave with a victory.

Lossie needed to get back to winning ways, and this was the ideal opportunity.  Lossie started very spritely, with some nice passages of play.  the pace of the game was quick, Dale was seeing a lot of the ball down the left, and caused Fochabers alot of problems.  lossie had the lions share of possesion but couldn't find the killer ball.  As always, a bit of slack play and giving the ball away in needless postions cost us.  lossie gave away the ball midway in their own half.  Fochabers were quickest too react 1-0.  This did.nt dappen lossie's spirtits, they kept going by taking the game to Fochabers.  Again though Lossie were punished against the run of play, by mistakes, a ball over the top was allowed to bounce, when there was a chance to clear, it rebounded of another defender straight into the path of the attacker 2-0.  lossie were 2 down and didn't deserve to be.  After the break Lossie stept it up.  Applying more pressure and getting more in the way off attacking opportunities.  Lossie won a free kick 5 yards from the edge of the area, Dale whipped it in, justin was there with a pin point header into the top corner 2-1, Lossie were back in it.  With lossie pushing for the equaliser, the game was starting to get really open, end to end.  Luckinly enough it was lossie who got the well deserved second.  With Fochabers on the break they beat Brad in goals but not James on the line, who passed to matty, he then dribbled to the half way line, played the ball to Justin who cleverly flicked to Daz, who then played the ball to Andy yates, who duely abliged 2-2.  lossie had a few more chancies in the dying minutes but couldn't find a way past.

This was the quarter finals of the cup, with the winner playing Whitehills.  After quite a close first half, burghead edged ahead.  Lossie came back and pulled it level just after the break with a great move and pass by Mike in the middle, who played it through for Besty.  With the on rushing keeper flying out of the sticks, Besty rounded him and slotted it home.  Lossie played some good football, but were undone when Burghead took advantage of some slack play down Lossie's right hand side 2-1.  From then on they struck lucky, this wasn't to say that Daz had a bad game cuz=s he played quite well in the sticks.  The game ended 5-1.

RAF Lossie v Cruden Bay 07/12/09
After beating Cruden bay twice already this season, Lossie went into the game thinking this was our result.  That was their first downfall, the second being the way Lossie played.  After a decent spell of pressure where Lossie had around 6 consecutive corners but couldn't get the vital goal.  Cruden Hit Lossie on the break.  1-0.  After a few stern words at half time-----SORRY ABOUT THAT COMP CRASHED-----, we got beat is all you need to know.

After a late pitch inspection, the game ended up on astro.  Leuchars were alot more physical than Lossie.  Bullied the Lossie boys off the ball.  Lossie didn't get the protection that they should of from the officials.  This said, Lossie should of played a hell of alot better.  Lossie were forced into a change when the first in a line of injuries surfaced.  Stewart when slding off the pitch into the dug out with his head.  Alcock came on, with one touch under his belt, was cruely felled in the middle, through a rash challenge, a cast (pot) and several months out his reward.  Munro came on for the other Munroe, Burkey also came on.  Lossie ended up losing 5-2.  lossie were in the end down to 10 men and counting the injuries, as Craig had to come off with an ankle complaint, Justin has since found out he has a cracked bone in his foot.

In horrible conditions, Lossie took to the field and kicked off into the wind.  With the wind howling and the rain belting down, there wasn't much eye pleasing football being played.  When ever Lossie seemed to get the ball, they gave away possesion cheaply and vice-versa.  Although Joe said to get the ball down, Lossie kept going for the long ball, which gave away possesion.  The Lossie attackers were caught off side more than once, some of them were wrong decisions but most were right.  Lossie did however take the lead midway through the first.  Stewart played the ball through to Besty, it was a defenders ball all day long, but the conditions played there part, and he slipped, leaving Besty to lash it home in the bottom corner.  5 minutes later Kinloss got an equaliser.  Again the pitch and weather played there part, Macca played the ball to Brad in goal, the pitch held the pass up a bit, then Brad got caught with the ball when he should of cleared 1-1.  Lossie then took the lead again through a penalty.  Lossie were on the attack when they were up ended in the box, Gaz Mac stepped up 2-1.  Kinloss then got another equaliser late in the half, a corner was floated in, Lossie failed to clear and were punished.  2-2.  The weather seemed to ease for the second half, Alcock, Munroe and James Castelle came on for Besty, Donaldson, and Stewart.  Lossie were starting to take control of the game and were looking for more goals.  Kinloss took a goal kick, the midfield delayed, Alcock slid in with a pass to Gaz Mac who applied the finish 3-2.  Justin then popped up with his first for Lossie, great work by Spud down the right, who crossed for Justin to place in the bottom corner 4-2.  Gaz Mac popped up with another strike to claim his hat trick 5-2.  Kinloss then started applying pressure, the Lossie defence stood firm.  Gaz Mac had a chance to score a 4th for himselve but blasted it onto the underside of the bar and away.

Team:
Sam Haltom
Steve Morgan     Carl Cheeseman      Matty Andrews     Ian Munroe

Chris Macartney
Craig Patullo     Paddy Jack      Chris Oliver

Mike Bestford      Mike McGregor

Leaving Chris Poole, Matty Smith, Johnny Whittle and Dale Smith on the bench.  Lossie welcomed top of the table Nairn to the Field of Dreams this week.  Lossie with a strong squad and in form striker Besty in the helms it was looking good for the airmen.  Nairn started brightly and set up an attack straight away. Thankfuly the Lossie defence stood firm and nothing came from Nairn.  Lossie were again playing some good football in patches, getting the ball down and passing it around to feet.  Paddy was looking dangerous down the flank, and the two up top were causing havoc.  Lossie took the lead mid way through the first, when Spud picked up the ball in the middle played it to Mike McGregor, who took 3 Nairn players right out of the game with one touch, played the ball to Besty on the edge of the area, Besty then dropped a shoulder, went the other way and curled a peach of a shot in to the net.  Lossie fully deserved their lead and could of had a few more.  Lossie started the second half much like the first.  Lossie were attacking down the right had another half chance but Nairn countered, they played a ball over the top (so many times Lossie's downfall) 1-1.  Nairn started getting in to the game a bit more, it wasn't long before they took the lead.  Unfortunately i was on the phone to Spunk so didn't see it, but they led 2-1.  This shocked Lossie and they started playing football again.  Paddy linked up well with pooley (second half sub)down the right, Paddy then whipped in a great ball, all Besty had to do was put his head on it, he duly delivered 2-2.  If the match would of gone on any longer, i think that Lossie would of won.  Cmon the Crabs!

Burghead v RAF Lossie 14/11/09
Team:
                                                     Brad Hardy
Paddy Jack      Chris Macartney      Cheesey      Ian Munroe

Chris Poole      Chris Alcock       Adam Lacey      Mike Magregor

Mike Bestford      Justin Rodgers

Subs:
Sam Haltom, Chris Oliver, Matt Andrews, Johnny Whittle.
Things didn't start well for Lossie, with them conceding a goal within the first 2 minutes.  Burghead broke down the left, played a good ball in to the box for the oncoming attacker to place in the net.  Lossie were though soon level.  Good work from Justin holding up the ball, then playing a peach of a ball through to Besty.  With the keeper coming flying out of his sticks into no mans land, it was a race to see who would get there first, Besty won, and from around 25 yards out, placed the ball in the back of the net.  Not long after that Burghead were back in front.  A corner from the right hand side was flung into the near post.  Alcock should of cleared it, but let it run, which then cannoned off the post out to the edge of the area where a attacker was waiting.  He belted it and it went in.  Burghead did manage to get a 3rd.  Again from another corner.  The lad swung it in, Brad rose to gather and dropped it-3-1.  Some sturn words at half time from the gaffer most of paid off, as Lossie looked the better in the second.  If Lossie could of got a goal it would of shaken Burghead and a upset would of been on the cards, this did not happen though, and Lossie went down 3-1.  Lets hope for better against league leaders Nairn next week.
RAF Lossie v RAF Linton 11/11/09
This game was an early kick off so the Linton boys could head off.  It was thought that Lossie would have a good pool of players to choose from, as it was, Lossie were struggling with numbers.  TEAM:
Brad Hardy
Craig Donaldson         Chris Macartney        Matty Andrews
James Castile
Chris Oliver       Chris Alcock       Neil Sinclair       Paddy Jack
Darren Shalliker       Justin Rodgers
That left Joe Russell, Jamie Reily and a late show from Miles Fish.  Lossie started very bright, Shally getting the ball down at every opportunity and bringing in the midfielders.  It wasn't long before Lossie took the lead.  Shally again brought the ball down with his back to goal, turned and a somewhat scuffed shot crept in the bottom corner.  There were a few rash/bad challenges from both teams.  After the goal Lossie seemed to step off the gas.  Linton were starting to get back into the game, although Brad didn't have much to do as the defence and midfield were battling well.  1-0 at the break.  Lossie were told to get the ball down and start playing again.  However Linton pulled it level with a corner just after the break.  This seemed to give Lossie a lift.  A succession of corners provided a number of opportunities.  Shally recieved the ball, a defender got a boot in which pushed the ball into Alcock's airbourne path, with an acrobatic overhead kick the ball was destined for the net, only for the keeper to save it.  Paddy Jack got he second goal for Lossie with a neat finish at the back post.  Shally scored the third after some good play by Justin Rodgers and Alcock down the left.  Justin recieved the ball in the middle of the park held off 3 defenders, then played the ball down the left for Alcock, who looped a cross for Shally at the back stick.  This was a good performance from Lossie and sets them on their way to a good cup campaign.

RAF Lossie v Fochabers 07/11/09
Lossie were hopeful of getting another win, to continue their recent run of good form.  However this wasn't to be as Fochabers came out fighting.  Lossie took the lead in the first half from a dubious so called shot from Pooley, which ended up looping over the happless keeper.  Brad in goal was then the busier of the 2 keepers.  He saved Lossie on a number of occasions with some quality stops.  The pressure did finally tell though as Fochabers forced an equaliser.  1-1 at the break.  Lossie tryed to go on the offensive in the second.  Justin Rodgers was looking dangerous up top.  The Fochabers defence couldn't cope with his movement and touch.  The final ball just woulnd't come off for Lossie though, this was punished by Fochabers, they countered and a weak shot from a Fochabers forward, manged to scramble under Brads grasp and legs.  Lossie looked to play some good football in places, but they need to prolong these 5-10minute gaps of good play into the whole match.

Yet again another away fixture to contend with.  Team:

Paddy Jack - RB

Chris Alcock - CM

Mike Bestford - ST

Which left Chris Oliver, Dale Smith, Craig Patullo and Daryl White on the bench.  Again it looked like there had been alot of rain on the pitch, which didn't look in the best of conditions.  However we had played on worse this season (last week).  Changes were made to the strating 11 due to a few injuries and a few people not here.  The ever present Chris Marcartney was skipper again, and won the toss.  Lossie started the brighter of the 2 teams, this doesn't mean that we played that good a football, but the fact that Hills were not playing there best.  It helped having a strong ref, who didn't stand for MUCH back chat.  Lossie had a few chancies in the first half, and if wasn't for the Hills keeper, Lossie would of been 3 up before 30 minutes.  Lossie's first goal came from a free kick right on the edge of the D.  After some good play down the left hand side, the ball was about to be blasted out by the Hills defence, only for Alcock to nib in there first and get hacked down.   Mike stepped up and calmly bent the ball round the wall and in the bottom corner.  Thats how it stayed for the first half.  It seemed as if Hills were bringing Lossie down to there level, instead of playing the simple passing game, Lossie didn't look comfortable on the ball and kept giving away possession.  In the second Lossie showed a few glimpses of what they can do when they play.  Besty and Yates'y were hanging on the last defender all time, which paid off not once but twice.  Burkey played a peach of a ball through for Besty who duly obliged and slotted it home for his 5 goal in 3 games.  Being 2 nil up and playing bottom of the league, things seemed to be going reasonibly well, and they got batter when, the lad knocked Paddy out was sent off, for a rash challenge then mouthing off at the ref, justice some people might say.  Hills did however pull a goal back in the most unusual of circumstances.  Hills crossed the ball from the left, which was just out of reach of Macartney's head, Cheesy did however get a powerful header on it, which cannonned off the back of the head of the Hills attacker.  Lossie still had time to score once more.  Another ball was played through to the front 2, who were now playing against 3, Andy Yates did well placing the ball home for a neat finish.  His joy and everyone else's turned a bit sour, when Yates'y went chasing a ball, which the keeper gathered.  Yates'y then proceeded to launch a blistering pushing attack on the innocent keeper, who was half his side.  Red card.  After that Lossie were but on the back foot, but with no real penetration.  The game finished 3-1 to the Crabs.

Cruden Bay v RAF Lossie 24/10/09
After a good result last week, the Crabs were looking to get another three points and start climbing the table.  Confidence was high as we had already taken 4 points of Bay this season.  Team:
Sam Haltom - gk
James Castial - rb
Chris Macartney - cb
Paddy Jack - cb
Lee Burke - lb
Adam Lacey - cm
Chris Alcock - cm
Chris Oliver - cm
Mike Bestford - st
Andy Yates - st
Justin Rogers - st.  The Crabs started with a 4-3-3 formation.  The Bang Bus set off from Lossie on the long route to Cruden Bay.  The weather was taking a turn for the worse, when we arrived it was clear to see that the North East of Scotland has had a lot of rain recently.  The rain was pouring the wind howling, and the pitch sodden.  Lossie were in the change strip of white blue white.  Pooley and the Gaffer were named as our subs.  Bay kicked off shooting with the wind.  The Bay used the wind to their advantage and kept us pegged in our own half for much of the half.  Lossie defended really well, but were not helped by some refereeing decisions.  Bay were restricted to some corners and couldn't break down the midfield and defence of Lossie.  Sam was playing well in the sticks, when a ball did manage to scramble through Sam was there to pick up the pieces.  There was one hairy moment, the ball got played back to Sam, Macartney asked for the ball off him, not knowing there was a Bay sriker on his ass, after a little bit of a scramble, Macartney came away with the ball.  Lossie were having trouble getting out there half, due to the fact that after every goal kick the ball was getting held up in the air.  Again Lossie did really well to contain the pressure.  When we did get the ball on the deck and play football, we created some good chances.  Alcock, Lacey and Oliver where winning the battle in the middle of the park and were playing the simple balls.  The ball got played down the right to Justin who turned and ran at the defence committing the defender who duly oppliged and took Justin down on the edge of th area.  Besty took the shoot and belted it, unfortunately the keeper was equal to it and palmed it out.  Not long after, Burkey recieved the ball on the left hand side and drove into the opposition box, all the defence could do was bring him down - penalty-.  One decision that the ref actually got right.  This was of course Chris Macartney's chance to grab his first goal for nearly 2 years.  Goal.  He smashes it.  Lossie lead 1-0 at the break.  No changes at the break apart from the weather got worse much like the picth, which was cutting up really bad in the middle and turing into a mud bath.  Lossie now had the wind, however we were determined and told to keep the ball on the deck.  We were looking threatening when we broke and Bay had no answer.  The front 3 were holding up the ball well and bringing in the midfield.  Lossie soon had there second of the game.  Macartney launched a long throw into the box, justin flicked on Andy was making a nusence, and Besty was there to blast it in at the second attempt.  Bay made some changes, which made a difference for them.  They attacked down their left, Lossie had a number of chances to get rid but didn't, and paid the price as they scored 2-1.  Lossie might be forgiven for thinking here we go again, but no, we knuckled down and got a third.  With a free kick just inside the Bay half, Macartney swung the ball in, Paddy met it with a neat side foot finish.  Lossie still plyed on the pressure, the ball was played through to Besty who slipped past the defender only to be thwartedby the on rushing keeper.  Andy Yates was also played through by Alcock, the angle was unkind, and he could only blast over.  In the dying moments Alcock intercepted the ball on the half way, skipped past 2 and was one on one.  The keeper did well and narrowed down the angle, with Justin and Besty screaming in the middle, Alcock ignored em and tryed to find the bottom corner, but i didn't.  The game finsihed 3-1 to the Crabs, a good result and even better performance in some horrible conditions.  Chris Oliver and Sam Haltom got donkey and James and Alcock got men of the match.

RAF Lossie v Fochabers 17/10/09
RAF Lossie are now looking to concentrate on the league and get some well deserved points.  This starts with Fochabers.  gk - Sam, rb - Burkey, cb - Paddy, cb - Cheesy, lb - James, lm - Joe Lynas, rm - Jon Ross, cm - Chris Oliver, cm - Adam, st - Bestford, st - Whittle.  In a not very attractive game, Lossie started brightly.  Closing down and pressing effectively.  Both teams were giving away possesion too easy.  It wasn't long before we had our first real chance, a free kick was awarded on the edge of the area, Paddy stood up, whether he was feeling fatigued from playing 2 mid week games and traveling down south and back up in time for this game, is anothre matter, anyway the ball went high and wide and not at all hansome.  Lossie wnet on the attack, the ball got played through to Besty who bent his run well, and calmly slotted the ball home.  A second followed shortly after when another free kick was met by the head of Besty for which the keeper should of done better.  After the break is usually where Lossie fall down.  Fochabers picked up a bit and threatened a few times, but thanks to good defending and some good saves by Sam (Brad who are ya), Lossie stood strong.  Lossie again hit them on the counter, with Joe picking up the ball on the right and playing a great cross for a free header for Besty to get his hat trick.  There was still time for Fochabers to get on the score sheet and they did.  The goal gave them a bit of impatus.  However Lossie should of killed the game off when we had a number of chances go begging, noteably Hodgy had a one on one for which he took too long and allowed the defender to get back.  In a game with a lot of effort but not quality from both sides, Lossie got there 2nd win of the season.  Mon the crabs.

Buchanhaven Hearts v RAF Lossie 10/10/09
After the dissapointing performance last week against Burghead, Lossie were looking to get a good show in against Superleague outfit Buchanhaven Hearts.  With the odds stacked against the airmen it wasn't looking promising.  Team: gk - Brad, rb - James, cb Macartney, cb - Andrews, lb - Baz, lm - Paddy, cm - Alcock, cm Summerfield, am - Bestford, rm - Chris Oliver, str - M Smith.  Again a different team to the one who played last week.  Straight away you could see that Buchan were a couple of leagues higher than us.  As with a couple of weeks ago when we played Highland League Lossie in a friendly, Buchan were happy to let us have a bit of time on the ball.  Unfortunately we could not create any real chances.  Buchan were always a threat going forward, Lossie's defence did stand firm till mid way through the first half.  A corner was played into the box on the deck, as it was a slippery surface the Buchan attacker tried a cheeky back heel, which went through two pairs of legs and eluded Brad in the sticks.  Another counter attack from Buchan provided their second goal.  They broke with pace from mid inside their own half, and good shot which should of been dealt with crept under the bar 2-0.  After some words of encouragement in the break, Lossie were looking to get back into the game.  This did not happen, as it seemed Buchan stepped up a few gears and lossie went into reverse.  Chance after chance went begging for Buchan untill they finally got their deserved 3rd.  3 more quickly followed untill the ref took pity and called time.  Not before Jamie recieved donkey of the match for trying to take James off when Chris Oliver was off the park injured.

Burghead v RAF Lossie 03/10/09
Team: gk - Brad, rb - Paddy, cb - Macartney, cb - Andrews, lb - Ian Munro, lm - Pooley, rm - Luke Asell, cm - Spunky, cm - Alcock, cm - Besty, st - Hodgy.  Subs - Whittle, Cheesy, Baz Lynas, Daz Fraser, Jon Ross.  On a day where the weather abandoned a couple of games in the Eastern parts of the Highlands.  The wind was not giving up in Burghead either.  With a big squad for RAF boys, Jamie had a few decisions to make.  With a few lads impressing against Highland League Lossie midweek, Jamie ringed the changes.  We set out with a 4-5-1, with Besty sitting just behind Hodgy in attack.  Burghead kicked off.  The wind seemed to playing into the hands of Burghead, as they did all the early running.  The RAF boys couldn't get the ball down and start playing their passing game.  The ball broke in the middle of the pitch, Spunk went in for a 50-50 with the other centre midfielder and came out the worse.  Spunk got carried off, Baz came on in the right back, Paddy came in to the centre.  Not long after RAF succombed to the pressure.  Not closing down quick enough allowed Burghead in over the top, Brad came but hesitated, the striker had an easy header in to the net.  Burghead then hit Lossie on a counter down the Left hand side, the left winger fired in a low cross, for which hit Chrisy Mac, and went into the net.  2-0.  Lossie then went on the attack and forced a corner.  the ball was lofted in but got cleared to the edge of the area.  Chrisy Alcock had the ball, faked a shot, and cut inside only to be thwarted by an oncoming defender.  The tackle left Alcock in a heap, with knee damage (some might say it was sympathy pain for Spunk).  Due to the fact i was on the deck in agonizing pain i couldn't see what was going on around me, although i did see the ball arrive at Hodgy's feet all alone and with a open net slice the ball wide.  Alcock carried on for now.  Luke on the right of midfield could not carry on, after inocculous challenge leaving him with a dead leg, Jon Ross came on straight swap.  With 2 subs already used, and Alcock carry ing an injury, there was not a lot that Jamie could change.  After a few words at half time, Lossie kicked off the second.  The second half started much like the first, with Burghead applying the pressure.  5 minutes in to the second half, Burghead won a corner, due to poor marking, there was a free header on the 6 yard line.  3-0.  5 minutes later the knee injury for Alcock was not getting any better.  Whittle on for Alcock.  Didn't see the 4th goal was getting a shower, also missed Brads great save sorry.  With players starting to argue with each other, the final whistle blow.  Jamie had a few home truths to discuss in the dressing room.  A bad result but an even worst performance, compiled with the loss of Spunky, Alcock and Luke for a while, things can only get better, or can they we have Buchanhaven Hearts next week away.  Cmom the Crabs.

Lossie v RAF Lossie 29/09/09
Charlie from Lossie Highland League, asked if we would like a game on Tuesday night, to give some of his boys a run out.  We duly appliged.  After Saturdays result, the majority of the squad thought this would be a mauling.  Team: Brad-GK, RB-Chris L, CB-Chris Mac, CB-Big Guns, LB-Ian Munroe, LM-Baz Lynas, CM-Spunky, CM-Paddy, RM-Pooley, CF-Andy Yates, CF-Besty.  Leaving Chrisy Alcock, Luke Asell, Ginge, Jon Ross, Hodgy, and Daz Fraser on the bench.  With Grant Park being a big pitch, we were going out there to play our passing game, keeping theball on the deck and short, using the wide men when ever possible.  When the game kicked off the Lossie players sat off the RAF boys, which played to our strengths.  After a bit of sparing between both teams.  It was the RAF boys that were threatening.  Some good work down the left between Baz and Ian, and similar on the right between Chris and Pooley, only to be thwarted by some good Lossie defenders.  Andy Yates was playing well uptop, getting hold of the ball and using his strength to bring in the mid fielders.  It wasn't long before the RAF had their first chance of the game, good work by Andy, laid the ball for Besty who shoot wide.  The RAF then took the lead.  A long throw by Besty caused havoc in the Lossie 6 yard box, when the ball broke to Andy, he lashed into the net.  The RAF had various other chances to increase the score line.  Andy again played the ball tthrough for Besty, but only for a good save by the Lossie keeper.  Lossie did start coming back into the game and where always a threat.  It was easy to see the fitness in them, with their movement when they didn't have the ball, and when they had set pieces.  Brad had a string of good catches and saves in goal.  But it was inevitable that they would score 1-1.  The RAF defence were playing really well together, in fact the hole team were playing really well.  The changes came thick and fast at half time: Daz on for Ian, Luke on for Pooley, Jon on for Baz, Hodgy for Besty, Ginge for Andy, and Alcock for Spunky, these were straight swaps.  With the two teams sharing the reffereeing duties, Spunk took the whistke for the second half.  RAF started how they started the first half, fast and looking the more dangerous.  Good work in the middle of the park by Alcock and Paddy, getting the early balls forward for Hodgy and Ginge.  The RAF defence again was looking solid.  Lossie took the lead against the run of play, the ball got played forward, Chris Loughlin made the tackle, but the ball rebounded into the path of the oncoming player, who played the ball to the unmarked man on the edge of the area, who calmly slotted past Brad. 2-1.  The RAF boys kept up the momentum, and never let their heads drop.  Luke down the right was having an especially good time, beating his man on every occasion.  RAF did have a few chances, but for some reason were shot shy.  The game finshed 2-1.  A really good performance by the RAF guys, no doubt the result might have been larger if some of the big boys were playin,, but that doesn't take away from the RAF performance.  We kept it going for the full 90 minutes (more like 80 with Spunks timing), created a lot of chance's, and there were a lot of decent individial performances.  Jamie will have a dilema on Saturday.  Forgive the spelling mistakes.

RAF Lossie v Nairn 26/09/09
Not much to say, a much changed team from last week, with Matt Andrews, Paddy, Spunky, Hodgy and Matty Smith all coming in, leaving Johnny Whittle, Baz, Chris Loughlin, Luke Asell, Ginge and Sam on the bench.  While Chris Alcock and Besty, bossed from the sides due to Jamie being on guard.  Nairn scored with just a minute in the clock, Lossie heads dropped and never picked up, eventually going down 6-1.  The ones was an own goal from a long throw by Maca.  Better next week boys, for fuck's sake lets hope so.

RAF Lossie v Whitehills 19/09/09
This being the first game for new gaffer Jamie Reilly, Lossie were eager to but together a good show, and impress the new boss.  After a good win last week against Cruden Bay, the team wanted to carry on their free scoring.
Team: Hardy GK, back 4 of Burkey, Chris Mac, Daz Fraser, Baz Lynas.  4 in the midfield of Pooley, Besty, Alcock and Joe Lynas.  Yates and Whittle up top.  A much changed team from the win at Cruden, with Loughlin, Summerfield, Matty Andrews and Matty Smith missing, it was up to the new additions to cement their place.
With a strong wind blowing straight across the pitch, Lossie started shooting down the hill in the first half.  It wasn't long till Lossie got hold of the ball and started bossing the game.  We did well getting the ball down the flanks, especially down the left hand side, where Joe was working hard and tore the right back in shreds.  It was down the left which created Lossie's first chance.  Joe out paced his marker, got into the by line, and crossed a low ball to Yates, who shot wide.  Johnny Whittle was playing well chasing down everything, and it was his running which bought about the first yellow card of the game.  Johnny chasing after the ball, tackled the aggrevated right back, for which he didn't like, and pursued in pushing and bustling with Johnny, who kept his cool.  Pooley's tireless running down the right, and the same from Joe on the left, it wasn't long before Lossie took a deserved lead.  The ball arrived at Besty's feet in a cramped Whitehills area, with no room to shoot he played a short pass square to Andy, again with no room to shoot played it back to Besty, fair play to Whitehills, they closed down the option to shoot, but left Joe alone, Besty picked him out, and Joe calmly slotted the ball in the bottom corner.  Whitehills where screaming for off side.  1-0.  After that it was thought the flood gates would open.  Lossie still applying all the pressure, failed to capitalize on the chances created.  Alcock hit a 20 yarder which just went over.  Alcock and Besty combined in the middle, which ended up with Besty hitting it wide, however the pitch didn't play its part, with the ball, getting stuck under feet, it was difficult to run with the ball.  We did keep pressing and trying for the second goal.  A good few corners came Lossie's way, one which was headed away for Chris Mac to pick up 20 yards out and unleash a shot that went wide.  With the half time whistle blown, Lossie felt confident of getting one over, on the Hills.
Lossie kicked off the second half, this time shooting uphill.  Hills changed their side, pushing the right back up top, as Joe was getting passed him too easily.  It proved to be a good change.  Jamie took off Pooley, and straight swap with John Ross.  Hills stepped up a gear and Lossie stepped off.  Whitehills seemed to get better in the middle, along with some dodgy freekicks, and dubious decisions, Whitehills were getting back into the game.  As Lossie were pushing up to get the vital second goal,  the ball broke free, and the ball was played over the top of the defence.  With Daz caught out the previous right back then had a free run on goal.  Baz was desperately trying to get back, unfortunately the lad hit the ball straight at Brad in goal, which rebounded straight back to him , and placed in the net.  1-1.  Lossie heads dropped.  Hills were putting pressure on our back four.  The ball dropped to a Hills player about 25 yards out, who swung a leg and scored.  1-2.  A change of formation for Lossie 4 3 3.  Besty went up top, Ginge came on for Andy, and Timmy came on for Johnny Whittle.  With Alcock, John Ross and Joe now in the middle.  The second goal for Hills seemed to kick Lossie in the arse,  We started creating chances again.  Whether it was the wind, the pitch or just bad balls, we couldn't make that final killer pass.  A few times Joe got in at the back but was fwarted.  There was one awful decision that went against us.  Joe had the ball at his feet inside the Hills area, with a defender on his shoulder that fell to the floor clutching the ball in his arms like a new born-NO PENALTY said the ref.  If that aint a pen i don't know what is. Final score 1-2.  Jamie's first game in charge started very well, but ended in a whimper.
Goals - Joe Lynas
DoM - Andy Yates
MoM - Burkey

Cruden Bay v RAF Lossie 12/09/09
With players missing like, Shuan Seaman, Lee Burke and The Hodge, the team were down to a bear 12 players.  With everyone aboard the bang bus, they set off for the 2 hour journey to Cruden Bay.
With the RAF boys in the change strip of white/blue/white, we kicked off the first half shooting from right to left.  The pitch looked in good condition, with a little wind.  We started with a 3, 5, 2 approach.  Brad in goals, with centre halfs Chris Mac, Matty Andrews, and Chris Loughlin.  Wing backs were Baz on the left with his brother, Joe on the right.  In centre mid holding role we had Liam, with Chris Alcock, and Pooley just in front.  In attack were Besty and Matty Smith.  That left Johnny Whittle bossing it from the side.
With the first half under way, Cruden bay had the lions share of possession, and hit us with some decent pressure.  They couldn't have break our rear guard, with the back 3 standing strong, Chris and Chris were doing the chasing leaving Matty to sort out anything that dropped.  Baz and Joe down either flank were doing their fare share of defending, consolidating the Bay's wingers to a few feeble crosses.  It took about 20 minutes for Lossie to settle, and we then enforced our own pressure.  We won a coulple of corners in quick succession.  The second corner bought about our first chance.  Besty whipped in good ball, which was destined for Matty Andrews, who did well to guide it goal - wards, the wind however played its part and took the power out of it.  Then Lossie got a lucky break, the Bay had a pop shot from 25 yrds, which the wind got hold of, the ball went over Brads outreached hand and hit the bar, which then hit Brad on teh back of the head and rolled across the line, luckily one of our defenders was there to clear.  5 Minutes later Chris Mac had a throwin 10 yards into Bay's half on the left hand side, Alcock and Pooley took the defenders away which left Liam spare on the edge of the centre circle, Liam collected the ball, and with a free pass to shoot, unleashed a rasper, that just went wide.  Lossie did keep conceding silly free kicks in dangerous areas, which the Bay should of done more with, thankfully they didn't.  The half ended with both sides 0 - 0, with Bay on top.
With Lossie counting them selves lucky not to be one down, the second half kicked off.  Lossie this time had the wind though.  After the team talk at half time Lossie upped their game, everyone started battling, and passing the ball to feet.  With space opening up in the middle, we started to create more chances.  It was five minutes into the second half when the dead lock was broken.  Liam collected the ball inside the Bay's half, dodged one tackle, then played a through ball for the run of Alcock, the ball took a deflection off one of the Bay defenders straight into the path of Alcock, with only the keeper to beat, Alcock placed the ball in the bottom left corner 0-1 to the crabs.  After that the crabs never looked back, With Matty and Besty linking up well upto, it was Besty's chance to get on the score sheet.  Matty took the ball on his chest, and with his back to goal calmly ladi it off to Besty, but with Besty stretching and the ball on the bounce, it just went over.  Unfortunately i can't remember Matty Smiths first goal, sorry.  0-2 to the crabs.  It was pretty much all Lossie now, with everyone battling for the ball.  Matty picked up the ball and went on a run down the left flank, only to be taken out by a Bay defender, Baz and Besty stood over the ball, Baz played a short one to Besty, which pulled a defender out, Besty then played it back to Baz, with Bay crying for offside, Baz played the ball across the box with pace, after a goal mouth scrammble, the ball dropped "Liam's ball!" was the shout only for Matty to get there first and get his second of the game.  We had a few long range free kicks, which were beautifully hit by Chris Mac and Besty, which went just wide or over.  Although Lossie were 3 up, Bay kept battling and trying to get forward.  This almost paid off, with the Lossie midfield to far forward, and no protection for the defence, the Bay broke down the right. Brad came out, but the boy went round him, and with an open net, Joe Lynas made an incredible challenge, and with Loughlin there to support him, they cleared the ball.  With Matty getting his 2 goals, Besty bought on Johnny for Matty.  With another break from Lossie, and a scrammple in the box, Besty came out top and scored his goal, 0 - 4.  Lossie were not done yet.  With fresh legs Johnny, un marked in the middle, Besty played a through ball, The Bay keeper closed down the angle well, and Johnny placed the ball 6 inches wide.  The final whistle blew.  Not only did Lossie win, but we kept a clean sheet for the second time this season.
