ODA Parish Cup and Singles League reports
03 December 2014

Report from 7-10-14

2014-15 Singles League

The popularity of the ODA Singles League continues to grow with a record forty nine players starting in October, the most ever at the start of the season.

The League fixtures, player contact numbers and rules are now posted on the Legion noticeboard. All players are reminded to text or email Bruce Moar the result of their matches as soon as possible and include any 180's, 100+ checkouts or 12 dart finishes or less. Also, don’t leave it to your opponent to contact you and don’t leave it to the last moment to organise your games. Anyone not playing their games will be removed from the League.

2014-15 Parish Cup

Fifteen teams went into the hat for the 2014-15 Parish Cup draw. They were reigning champions Holm, Birsay, Burray, Eday, Firth, Harray, Orphir, St.Andrews, Sanday, Sandwick, Shapinsay, South Ronaldsay, Stronsay, Westray and St.Ola who are returning to the competition for the first time since they lost the 2012 final.

Tie of the round is the local derby match between Burray and South Ronaldsay. South Ronaldsay will be looking for a better result than the 12-6 thrashing the Burray team handed them in the first round in 2010 when the two teams faced each other for the only time. Champions Holm start their defence with a tricky away tie against Stronsay who they previously beat in the semi-final in 2012.

Team captains are reminded that any player not residing in the parish must prove, by way of birth certificate, their eligibility. This rule will be strongly adhered to. Failure to prove eligibility may mean expulsion from the competition.

The Noust in Orphir has been chosen as the venue for the final at the end of March.
