Singles League Rules - revised January 2015
  1. The Orkney Darts Singles League is open for anyone over the age of 18.
  2. All Leagues will play best of 17 legs of 501.
    The first player to win nine legs will be deemed to be the winner of the match and no further legs will be played after this point. (Minimum of 9 legs/maximum of 17 legs)
  3. Five players will compete in each league playing each other once each over a calendar month.
  4. Matches will be played at a venue convenient to both players. Failure to agree a venue will mean the game will be played in the Kirkwall Royal British Legion.
  5. The toss of a coin will decide who throws first for the bull up.
  6. Players may take a break of no more than 10 minutes after the fifth and tenth legs. Each player will get to throw nine darts at the matchboard before resuming the match.
  7. If the score is equal after the penultimate leg then the players will bull up for the deciding leg. The player who threw second at the first bull up will go for the bull first this time.
  8. The winner of the match is to record the scores in the Kirkwall Royal British Legion and also notify the League Organiser within 48 hours. Any 180’s, 100 plus checkouts or finishes of 12 darts or less are also to be recorded. Text or phone Bruce on 07825581518 or email gbmoar@yahoo.co.uk
  9. Points will be awarded as follows:
    Two points for a win.
    One point for a loss.
    No points for failure to play a match.
  10. A player who is unable to honour an arranged match due to unforeseen circumstances and is unable to arrange an alternative date will forfeit the match and receive no points. The opponent will claim a win and be awarded two points.
  11. A player who fails to turn up for an arranged match, without contacting the opponent, will forfeit the match and receive no points. The opponent will claim a win and be awarded two points.
  12. The top two in each league will be promoted to the league above with the bottom two players being relegated to the league below. This may be affected due to late entries.
  13. At the end of the month if there are two or more players tied with the same points the following criteria will be used:
    i/ Difference between total of legs scored for and against divided by total matches played.
    ii/ Total of legs won divided by total of matches played.
    iii/ Result between tied players.
  14. Mobile phones are to be turned off during play.
  15. Failure to play games will mean either relegation or elimination.
  16. Late entries will be placed into a league at the League Organiser’s discretion.
  17. The League Organiser’s decision is final.

CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SYSTEM
(The Championship will be played for over 7 months from October – April) Championship Points are only awarded to players playing in the top six leagues.

League 1         6 points are awarded for a win or a claimed win,
                        5 points are awarded for a defeat.
League 2         5 points are awarded for a win or a claimed win,
                        4 points are awarded for a defeat.
League 3         4 points are awarded for a win or a claimed win,
                        3 points are awarded for a defeat.

League 4         3 points are awarded for a win or a claimed win,
                        2 points are awarded for a defeat.

League 5         2 points are awarded for a win or a claimed win,
                        1 points are awarded for a defeat.
League 6         1 points are awarded for a win or a claimed win,
