About NORTH KESSOCK VILLAGE

North Kessock is a small village on the Black Isle, Ross-shire in the Highlands of Scotland.   It lies on the North shore of the Beauly Firth, opposite the city of Inverness.   The stretch of water separating North and South Kessock is known as the "Kessock Narrows" or Beauly Firth.   There are still ferry piers at North and South Kessock and for hundreds of years a ferry carried passengers and vehicles to and fro.   Eventually to meet the ever growing flow of traffic, a bridge was built, and in 1982 the Kessock Bridge was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth, the late Queen Mother

The Moray Firth is home to a resident school of bottle-nosed dolphins and many tourists come to North Kessock to dolphin spot.

North Kessock has:

a population of about  600 people

a Primary School with a roll of approximately 90-100 children.   The School is a "community use" school.

a Free Church at Ferry Brae, near the top of the village

a Doctors' Surgery at Ferry Brae

Mission Hall, Main Street, North Kessock

A Mission Hall in Main Street, which was used for Church of Scotland services, and other community Clubs and Classes.   Sadly, the Mission Hall has closed as at 28th March 2014 and is to be disposed of by the Church of Scotland.

It is hoped to set up a group in order to purchase and run the Mission Hall (2 meeting rooms and office) for the benefit of the Community.  There are a number of people willing to be members, or sign a petition of support, but at the moment the project needs another 4 or 5 people to be on a Steering Group with all the work that entails.

If you feel that you might be able to help, please contact Owen Smith (chairman of the Community Council) on 01463 731259 or

owen.smith@talk21.com.
